Just thought I'll share a comparison,

During Prime Day 2021,
Fire HD 10: $79.99
Trade-in bonus discount of 20% off List price: - $30
Trade-in value of old tablet: $5 to ?? (Eg. Old Fire HD 8 in good condition valued at $25)
= $49.99 - trade-in value of old tablet
(Eg. $24.99 after trading-in old Fire HD 8)

HSN 2021:
Fire HD 10 + Custom case with new member discount: $69.99
CB: 15% of $69.99 = - $10.5
Discover-Paypal CB of 5% of $69.99 = - $3.5
Effective cost: $55.99 for Tablet and case, without trade-in

Assuming you can trade-in the old fire tab separately with Amazon to get a GC (Say, for $25 again and a 20% discount which you could use on another device purchase)
Effective cost with trade-in: $30.99

So, this deal is great for someone who doesn't have a trade-in device. Even compared to Prime Day deal with trade-in, it is only $6 more, but you get a code for a customizable case - so it's great if you missed the prime day deal.

If you're still looking for the slickest deal and are not really looking for this device now, maybe trade-in the device now at Amazon (so that the 20% code is ready in your account for use later) and hope for the same or better price during Black Friday / Cyber Monday.

I had ordered a denim and an olive on Prime Day for the same price to replace my kids' Fire 8. Wife complained why she was left out and she cooked me instant noodle for dinner for one whole week! Ha ha

I immediately ordered a lavender for her when I first saw this deal. Hopefully I will have rib eye once she receives her order. PleasePlease
Forget buying a new tablet. Sounds like you need a new…

Lmao F no. Unless the case is worth a hundo, which I HIGHLY doubt. MSRP on tablet is $150
The Kindle Oasis is $250 so maybe that's a confusing thing for anyone new

If someone doesn't need one for immediate use, What's wrong with trying to save every penny of their hard-earned money?

It allows to download zoom, Skype , teams etc for kids school online classes?
If Amazon store has it, you will be good.
Zoom, Skype and Microsoft Teams both have Amazon version, so for those you should be good.

If it's not in Amazon store, YMMV if it's from Android Play Store.
Even using the toolbox, FireOS will still not support Android FCM which requires system privilege and can't be sideloaded. It is required for many messaging app or any app requires push message to wake itself up to get notification when not at foreground (in that case, it will require Amazon's equivalent push mechansim), e.g. Wechat will not work, Skype version from Play Store will not work, some app will look fine except notification from server, if any, might not work like Hubitat.

There is no custom Android ROM for 2019 and up, for most people Toolbox is fine, but if one needs full Android support, I don't recommend Fire HD.

Fire HD 10 is a fantastic tablet. The display is super sharp. I mainly use it to read print-edition newspapers and there the long aspect ratio helps. The sharpness even helps in reading Kindle books a joy. Annoyingly, from cold-start it sometimes is slow in switching apps, but in running condition, not much of a big deal. Watching movies are great too.

This is a good tablet but a little laggy once in a while, especially from a deep sleep. It's hard for me to unlock the damn thing

Gotta love the "no offense" disclaimer when someone is being very insulting; how about not offending at all? (no offense) nod

Well, isn't Slickdeals mainly about getting the best value your money? By stacking the best combination of promos and CB for a consumer's benefit (as long as it's ethical - like no abusing returns)

If you've got an old tablet lying around, what's cheap about making use of it for a trade-in and making it slicker?

You might be one of those who thinks that posts calculating 'cost per sheet of TP' sound 'cheap'. But in this market where non-standard packaging sizes exists between brands, I think it's a fair, smart way to compare and make an informed decision.

'Cheap' is subjective - To each, their own. Enjoy Slickdeals my friend! 👍
