Is this a good deal if you missed the 1TB 980 for $95 from Newegg?
At the rate I'm buying and downloading games I'll probably pat myself on the back later for putting in a little more investment for 2TB. Internal nvme is really a gamechanger
NVMe prices have really stagnated. I bought a 2TB Sabrent Rocket for $220 in 2019 that is a little faster than the SN550. For the current market, this isn't bad but not where we should be.

Yep, I spent $230 on the rocket Q 2tb just as the pandemic was starting but with chia being a thing and with covid cases rising again, I don't see prices dropping further anytime soon. Maybe by early 2022 we'll see some better deals, I'd like to see the price per gb to drop below 10 cents.

A NAND oversupply caused those prices and forced makers to basically skip a new generations of SSDs that should have happened in 2020 and 2021. The properly new stuff should arrive next year or so and cause downward price pressure on entry level products.
A small note that the 2TB SN550 performs worse than the 1TB version. Still should be mostly okay but while many SSDs are designed up to 2TB properly with performance that scales, the SN550 was clearly only designed up to 1TB in mind and the hack job 2TB is a suboptimal combination.

Do you have an article or benchmarks to show this? Thanks in advance.
Isn't that the one which was accused of component swapping and not disclosure?

yep, there's at least five different versions of it now, with differing performance. can't trust them!
While it's true they changed out components without changing the model #s, all versions are within very close numbers of each other and they are all faster than this drive.

Not sure I'd agree. Sure, they are all fast, and odds are you wouldn't even notice the difference, there IS substantial difference in benchmarks.
Consider the following video; LTT benchmarks several variants from their viewers, and some of the bench mark results vary by nearly 20%:
If you bought something because of a particular benchmark or a particular use scenario, you expect to get what you bought. It's bad business practice on Adata's part.

Just wish it were the Samsung 970 EVO Plus again...there should have been tons of deals on those, but squat.
