A7c has much better AF and a fully articulating LCD. They share the same sensor, so IQ is the same. The a7iii has better ergonomics, dual memory slots and a better EVF. I picked the A7c.

As someone who switched from Canon to Sony by getting the A7iii and then later picked up the A7Riii, I have to say, for all the mud slinging going on here regarding the UI and from the Canon forums before I made the switch, it's really a non issue. You literally need 20-30 minutes to set up and customize "My Menu" and the Fn select buttons and custom buttons for your flow, and you never need to touch it again. It becomes second nature.

Lol.
Not about movement. It's about trying to shoot at f1.4 in midday sunlight.

If you need the dual SD slot or better viewfinder, go a7iii. Otherwise a7c is better.

If you care about video the A7C has more recent video tech features that the A7III lacks & is obviously smaller; if you don't, the A7III gives you 2 card slots & a better view finder

This is a good point. A7C is stronger for video - no record limit either

If you plan to do a lot of video with this

Google/Youtube "A7III 4K external monitor issues"

You may be better off with an A7C

Seriously? 1/4000 mechanical 1/8000 electronic is a limit for "any serious" photo? Brides and grooms sprinting with Olympic speed maybe......

Use an ND filter?

Sony makes fine cameras, but in 2021, wouldn't buy one without the new touchscreen user interface. The old UI is... not great, some might say terrible.

The cameras with the new UI are the A7C, A1, and A7S III. Though the A7 IV should be out before long and will undoubtedly have the new interface.

This is not true. A7C retains the old UI.

You are correct, thought it had it.

Then would recommend most still shooters wait for the A7 IV. Video users, the A7S III without question.

Have to say that the A7S III takes fantastic still photos. It seems to have all the still photo features of Sony's other cameras. Unless there's a need for poster sized prints, its 12MP is more than enough for nearly everything else, professional or consumer.
