I got a new dishwasher and started using Cascade ultra-mega platinum yada yada vs my Sams pacs and my dishes are CLEAN. The issue though is they're not as dry as I expect them after the heat cycle. The Finish rinse aid just isn't doing it. I'm going to try this and see if I get better results. It's the downfall though of buying in bulk as these things last as I have no idea when I'll finally run out of the current rinse aid and the bottle I bought lasts I think 300 washes...and for dang sure I was able to pour about 1/4th of it in this dishwasher!!!

I decided to do this for the first time on my dishwasher and am impressed. Spent $4 on a bottle of Finish that lasts 80 washes. My dishwasher has a reservoir that holds half the bottle so it's kinda fill and forget for awhile.
As good as a "deal" this is AND buying the cascade is 50% the price, but it really only saves me $8 over the cost of a year. The Mrs preferred Finish, so I guess I'm sticking with that. Also, storage space for cleaning chemicals is already low (Costco sized bottles that we use for other stuff).
Dishwasher PSA: Don't forget to add some pre-wash soap! If you do this, you don't need to pre-rinse most dishes!!!!

On my particular machine. The pac is put into the timed release compartment and then I pour some liquid dish detergent in top of that closed compartment and start my cycle.
However I just rinse my dishes anyways because it take more than 2 days to load up a full load. Don't want to have the smell build up
Additionally, rinse aid contains anti-redeposition agents that help prevent anything that rinsed off the dishes from redepositing on them in the rinse cycle.

Used both Finish tabs and rinse aid for over 10 years then discovered our current dishwasher actually cleans better with Cascade tabs vs Finish so curious to see if the Cascade rinse aid will also dry better!
