Latter. Imagine have a good time at beautiful pools and an upscale restaurants without small children running around. Not saying there shouldn't be nice places for kids, but there should also be nice places for those that don't want to be around them.

Food here isn't great unless you stay at the attached Ocean Point, which are nicer rooms and adds an upscale-ish restaurant (we had EVERY meal there, the menu changes daily). It's adults only.

Ok property (I toured it and passed), but not on the beach. We really like the Atrium Beach Hotel.

How do you go about touring properties? Did you book flights and then look at hotels before deciding which one to book? Thanks
Also, what the fark is this guy talking about? This hotel has a private walkaway to Maho Beach and an exclusive sitting area that's the best place to watch planes coming in.

it is a common thing to do. my wife used to work as a Meeting planner and she would work with the hotel GM at different resorts for site visits. You would view the meeting spaces, resort amenities, restaurants etc. in hopes that you would book a meeting or convention. The best part was that they would always throw perks at her, free stays, upgraded rooms, free meals, gifts, etc. The perks were what made it worth it for her.

Bingo. If ambitious, one can also put together a group package (it's work) where you get at least 8 people or more and most often a hotel will comp your stay with a upgraded room. That said, keeping track of everyone for booking can be a chore.

When I mentioned touring a hotel, speak to the concierge and tell them you would like a tour of the hotel and rooms (especially the rooms in my opinion) and most will gladly show you around. I've had hotels comp me a meal just for stopping by and viewing their property.

Regard this hotel location, it's set back from the beach farther than other hotels. Very nice hotel, but I was expecting more. Noisy when the jets come in/leave.

I feel one of the best beaches on sxm is Mullet bay. It's only a short walk from Sonesta in the opposite direction of Maho beach.

Agreed. Mullet bay was our favorite. Didn't care for Orient Beach or Maho. Too many seaweed when we went

This place is travel high risk for covid. Avoid for the time being.
The vaccinated are protected, and those who choose not to vaccinate are willing to live with the consequences.

You're spreading alarmism just for the hell of it at best, and you're denying the effectiveness of the vaccine at worst. Neither of those is doing anyone favors.

Just stop.

This is a very American-centric point of view. As of May there were still countries that haven't received ANY vaccines. So I guess screw all those people that haven't had a chance to get it yet right?

St. Maarten has a higher vaccination rate than the US, so that argument isn't really valid here.

You're trying to virtue signal but don't even have a basic understanding of the island's demographics...
