Why so? The reviews are mixed but for $100, it mops better than iRobot and others which are 3X the price. From my initial research, it looks perfect for smaller-sized homes.

I have this product. I like the fact that you can just set it and forget it. It will run for about 45 mins or so before the battery dies and you need to recharge. It's not perfect as the default setting makes it just randomly move around and ends up missing spots (especially if youre trying to mop a large area). But I use the "focus" setting and it does a concentrated area (maybe 300 sq ft?). i'll do this a couple times a week for different spots around the house. There are about 6 or 7 different settings in all.
I wish it came with more pads though (only comes with 2 pairs) because you have to wash the pads after each use. I used to throw them in the washer/dryer but now i just wash them by hand as it's much quicker. Another thing I like is that it has a handle and is very comfortable to grip and use by hand if you want to just mop a certain spot real quick by yourself. This product is very easy to use and I do recommend it, especially at this price. Hope this helps!

Can it sense carpet?
I have carpet right next to my tile and don't need it getting the carpet wet our ruining itself.

It's doesn't really sense anything but cliffs. I will avoid carpet if the carpet is higher. I would recommend this for small areas (bathrooms, entry ways, spill etc.)
I bought this the last time around when it was $99 w/ the EDU discount.
I went in with the purchase figuring that if we didn't like it, we would take advantage of the free return. It's great for daily maintenance moping of hardwood floors in our kitchen/dining, which is exactly what we wanted it for. Don't expect this to do any heavy duty mopping or prevent having to do a thorough mopping every once in a while. We like it, ended up keeping it!

Which Braava are you referring to from iRobot? I have owed all 3 of the iRobot models. By far M6 is the best. Original Jet 240 was nice, but it covers only 250sqft and have to change the battery. I gave it to my grandparents back home and they were fine with it.
Bought the Braava 380t and it covers up to 1000sqft, but still no automatic docking.
Recently got the M6 and we are super pleased with it. It got schedules, auto charging and covered our downstairs around 900 sqft hardwood floor.

This will pay for itself in less than 2 hours if I pick up some OT, it's $115.
