FYI - We leave next Monday and got $270 RT on Southwest, better deal if you are checking bags! We take our snorkel gear and 8 bottles of wine with us. Smilie

'snorkeling' - If going to Oahu, good luck getting into Hanauma Bay, it was a fight signing up every morning.

Also remember, absolutely no rental car availability anywhere!. I have also read articles after articles about locals sneering and cussing at tourists as they think they are spreading COVID. Got an awesome deal during the last southwest anniversary sale, but most likely I'm cancelling due to these reasons

My partner and I were trying to go to Hawaii for our honeymoon because we wanted to stay within the US because of COVID, but still get far away from home and spend some time on beaches, mountains, and in forests. Plus - we got a great deal on the flight.

Hawaii isn't in great shape right now, and we'll be cancelling our trip there. I encourage everybody else to not to jump on these flight deals. Rental cars are gone, national parks are turning people away because of over-crowding, parking is swamped all over, and people are just parking on highways. Restaurants are over-packed and under-staffed.

The Mayor of Maui is asking people to stop coming, and even asking the airlines to stop bringing people in.

There's also a pretty serious drought in some parts, with residents looking at water rationing while resorts fill their pools, and golf courses water the grass. https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/202...ts-island/

Toss in some wild fires, and the recipe to leave Hawaii alone for a while looks pretty complete to me.

Why would you book this basic fair with no bag and seat when Southwest is the same price? You can even find lower prices for certain dates on Southwest combined with their no change fee and ability to cancel.

That's all grossly exaggerated, at least on Oahu. We got a hertz car for a week for $300 early July, had a great time overall. Maui has a restaurant shortage & pricey rn, do not recommend.

That article is dated October 2020 when vaccinations weren't even released yet and COVID was at its height….
