Sure, no one needs a cold-weather sleeping bag over the summer, right?!? But I bet Walmart won't be clearancing them out in the winter! Smilie

If you're going into true cold weather (under 40 degrees), you MUST use a mummy sleeping bag.

Maybe if you're stuck in the 1950's. There are plenty of rectangle bags that are quite cozy through to 10 degrees. I've used my duck canvas one in negative temps before.

As someone who has repeatedly (and comfortably) slept below 40 degrees not in a mummy bag I'd have to disagree.

There are plenty of sub-30 degree rated rectangular bags, pick one of those and an adequately insulated sleeping pad and there's no reason to sleep in a cocoon.

"Cold Climate Sleeping Bag" that is clearly only about an 1" and does not appear to have anything other than standard insulating material ("polyester Alterna down fill"). LOL.

Oh and per the description "is most cozy when used in temperatures 30 degrees Fahrenheit or higher." Maybe my version of old climate and theirs differ slightly?

I doubt this would keep you warm on a 50 degree night but it probably good for kids sleeping on a bedroom floor.

Physics says mummy bags are more efficient. Sure you can get away with using a rectangular bag but there is a reason the real cold weather bags are all mummy bags. It also depends on what you wear to sleep.

The 30 degree rating is "survival", not comfortable. Midnight Florida in the summertime? Sure. Wintertime even in FL? I wouldn't use it.

Good bag to keep in your car and a couple cheap shiny mylar survival blankets to use as an insulating layer on the inside if you ever get stranded. Twelve bucks or so might save your life one day if you're stuck in the wilderness in snowy cold.
