V8 does well too, v10 and v11 are the newer generation with noticeably more powerful suction. Anything below that I found to struggle with carpets (v7 and lower).
You'll want the soft brush head for the vinyl as the regular head just tends to smack stuff away on hardwood/vinyl/stone.
Seems like no one sells an adapter that passes through electricity (needed for the motorized heads), but if you have v7 or older accessories (which aren't compatible with the newer ones), get the official dyson quick release wand for the v8 and up, and then attach and tape the older accessory at the end. The wand itself is incompatible, but it makes enough contact on the electrical contacts to drive the older motorized heads. Just swap poles when you want to swap between different heads.
