Absolutely AWFUL port! I played this and returned it the next day. The graphics are SO bad that I couldn't make out what I was looking at while navigating the game. I bought the game on PC and it's unfathomable how anyone could think of playing Outer Worlds on the Switch. When I maxed out the graphics on PC, it was like I was playing a different game. There are little critters throughout the world (which I can't mention the name of for spoiler reasons) that are involved with the first major quest. You can't even make out what type of creature they're supposed to be they look so bad on the Nintendo Switch.
The controller controls were also so bloody awful and are not designed for first-person games. You can't do third-person like Elder Scrolls games, so you're stuck with using the right analog stick for turning your head ingame. May god have mercy on you in combat. You simply won't be as quick as someone playing on keyboard and mouse.
My best recommendation is to purchase this game on Steam and then use a Valve Steam Deck to play it on the go if you simply must have a portable experience. Do yourself a favor and don't compromise with this port.
If you only have a switch, then it's not that bad to be honest, might be longer loading times, and clunky aiming, but it's not a competitive shooter, just a rpg. Make sure you update tho.

I actually bought this for switch a couple weeks back. I believe its the same price at target, best buy and amazon also. I got it at target.
I've been playing it and the port to the person who said its awful, there is a huge patch that it downloads and as many have said in other reviews it greatly improves the graphics / gameplay from the time of the first release. I've really enjoyed this game, have only played maybe 12 hours or so, but its been more than decent graphics wise. Yes some levels take a bit to load, but other than that no complaints especially at $20

I heard that the v1.3 patch resolved most of the problems.
The big patch did help but I ended up selling my copy, since I have a PS4 and can buy it there if I ever get the urge to play it again. It was decent fun, but the Switch is definitely a more limited experience from the technical side. But I agree with the others saying if Switch is your only option, it's definitely not unplayable.
I've enjoyed 100+ hours of playing this on Switch. Haven't played on other platforms, bought on a hunch. Also only ever played after the performance updates came out. Apparently I didn't work well before but I didn't have any problems with the overall gameplay.
Even with the patch the graphics are pretty abysmal. But if you're more into it for the story, can be fun. Very much like New Vegas but with a story set in space, you align yourself to a faction, etc.
If you have any other console or even a halfway decent pc, you can get it on there cheaper ($15) and it'll overall run better.
It runs fine on switch, as long as you don't mind not being able to make out what's in front of you until you're on top of it. Obviously the whole point of Switch is mobile gaming, though I'm looking forward to the Steam Deck with its RDNA2 and access to the Steam Library.
