Even if you do minor woodworking/maintenance projects, these things are pretty much a mandatory companion to a circular saw.
Mark 2x4. Line up saw index with mark. Butt square against saw plate. Clamp or hand-hold square. Make good cut.

I bought the one with standard units, though, which aren't available in home improvement stores. Can't be bothered with imperial.
