There's no way I would trust a TCL product with full access to my home network. You know, unless you want the CCP to have full access to your data, then I guess have at it.

I'm sure there will be all sorts of comments about how you can protect yourself against that to get this discount mesh WiFi setup, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
i often see comments like those, and i often wonder the following:

say if your data will be access regardless (and that's no joke), would you perfer your data to accessed by "CCP", or would you perfer your data to be accessed by, i don't know, IRS?
if you have something serious to hide, at least in this scenario, one cannot do anything to you (assuming you are not living in a CCP jurisdiction), and one can actually get you to trouble.

i know what i would do

Does it support wired backhaul connections between primary node and secondary node. i.e. connect the primary node and secondary node via ethernet so it acts as the backhaul and frees up the wifi for devices?

After TCL Android TV 2020 backdoor problem: https://www.tomsguide.com/news/tc...na-bashing, I would say TCL needs more effects to convince Americans, especially network products.

Didn't read the whole thread. Probably plenty of discussion on security. But just PSA, this is from the article:

"One was a flaw that let anyone browse the file system of a TCL TV without entering a password. The other was a hidden feature that seemed to be sending screenshots and logs of user activity to servers in China, which hacker Sick Codes, one of the flaws' finders, told us amounted to a "Chinese backdoor." "

Thanks plusrainforest for the post.

There are way too many TCL paid posters /Internet ghostwriters here, SD should investigate if these accounts has something to do with rule violations.
What is so strange about posts about TCL, the #1 bestselling brand of smart TVs in the USA (beating out Samsung), and 3rd biggest selling brand globally? You make it seem like some random unknown niche Chinese brand that can't be trusted, rather than being the equivalent of Apple for smart TVs or Google for internet search engines. More surprising that TCL threads don't dominate Slickdeals more given how dominant a brand it is in the US marketplace.

Being made IN China and BY China are two very different things.
Also, the China being talked about here is not Taiwan.

I have a tcl 75 series 6 and I love it. But I wouldn't buy this for my internet needs due to their back door android apps. Pay a little more and get a deco m9 or some other reputable brand
Your tv is also hooked to Wifi or Ethernet so a hack can enter that way too. jmho.

Ubiquiti nano station. Could use the loco version or get the full size and just put an access point off it directly. We shoot them several hundred feet through trees branches no problem. Ubiquiti lists instructions for setup on their site for PtP (point to point) setup.

According to the comment. So anyone could suggest that should I go with TP-Link X60 $230 or M9 plus $160 at Costco? Just lots of smart devices. Thanks.

I have the Deco M9 and also have tons of IoT devices, definitely worked well for me, especially how easy it's for the M9 to setup with a dedicated 2.4GHz guest network for all my non-5GHz devices.

Tp-Link is a Chinese owned company as well. Avoid.

Watching Roku TV on AdGuard Home, they phone home a LOT of data. I blocked all their domains. You can tell that they take samples of what you're watching when the ad pops up to watch the movie from the beginning. So creepy...
