Why?

It comes like this:

Bags are still numbered and sealed, and can easily be torn open - the only thing missing is the full color box that will likely be immediately trashed.

Frustration free packaging is the best way to go because it almost always means the set is included in the box Lego ships with (to protect the set).

Thanks! From the posts and information I read, I was of the impression that the box was not included - definitely wrong Smilie

Nice, good to know. I was reading it thinking it would be bags/instructions with no outer box.

You get the outer box. They just slap a shipping label on it. Expect considerable damage to the outer box during shipping. I think before you check out there is an option to have it shipped in a brown box. I would never have any lego kit shipped in the frustration free method.

I can attest, been waiting for a price drop. Was able to price match for store pickup at Target (additional 5% redcard discount).

Ik legos are always more than what they seem. but hard to visually process that it's a 1k piece set, just looking at it put together.

Frustration free for Lego shipments can vary. Sometimes you get the shipping label slapped on the Lego box and shipped like that. A no no. Sometimes you get it shipped in a protective box like it should always be and this tends to be from someone who is "in the know" about lego boxes and their worth. And finally it can come without the original box and just the bagged items with instructions shipped in a smaller box, this is how frustration free packaging items are actually supposed to be shipped but I've noticed lego rarely is sent this way, most will be shipped with the label slapped directly on the box. So since sometimes frustration free items are cheaper select this option AND THEN SELECT GIFT and it should be sent in a box or wrapped up to hide the contents.

I just opened my order for this item. I had selected "hide contents" to make sure my proper box didn't get sticker-spammed. There was one outer brown box, one inner brown box, and the proper white Lego box. No stickers on the Lego box.

My past experience with non-Lego "frustration free" packaging was a completely different experience.

The only frustrating thing here is the amount of confusion around "frustration free" packaging.
