Look into the Luxottica monopoly. There was a 60 minutes episode about it some years back. Luxottica owned almost every retail sunglass company in the United States (Ray Ban, Oakley, Sunglass hut, etc). They then controlled the entire pricing structure of sunglasses. They made people believe that sunglasses are a "premium item" that costs a lot to produce, this is based on the outrageous prices they charged to people. They lost that monopoly probably thanks to markets like Amazon, ebay, etc. Now they are forced to sell Ray Bans for about $50 instead of whatever ridiculous price they forced consumers to buy it at years ago ($150+). You can get polarized sunglasses on amazon now for about $15 with free shipping. 😂

Btw since the polarize patent is up, so I think cheap polarized glasses should be pop up left and right now
