Unfortunately this is a $250 throw-away for most people. Quality is super bad, and having the derailleur hanger as part of the frame (no replaceable derailleur hanger) means that the first hard hit to the RD, will probably be the last one for this bike - do not use this on real MTB trails. Probably ok for around the neighborhood or a light XC trail, but at that point why not just get a higher quality hardtail, which is better suite for those conditions anyway? Good options in the $300-$400 range are Mongoose Ardor for $300, and Schwinn Axum for $400. Quality of both is night and day compared to this.

Sure if you're doing real off road riding your not going to last long on this. I bought it for my son. Him and i are 5'8". It fits us great. Most of our riding will be paved. But we've gone pretty hard on much lesser bike no problem. The biggest issues i see are crappy shock, but it does have a little travel. Although with 29" wheels you'll travel over a lot of terain no problem. 250 is still a bit upgradable. I love kev central and agree for another 150 you can get a lot more, but that is another 150. Im not upset with my purchase so far. Oh yeah, shipping sucks with these. Ive ordered two just to have one solid bike. The front wheel almost always comes damaged shipped.

At this price point, it'd be better to just get a hard tail (no rear suspension) so there's less moving/serviceable parts to break.
