Ok. Explain how you applied it, please. User application the #1 cause of failure. If you apply this to the proper type of grass, when it's wet (early morning dew is perfect), and leave it undisturbed for at least 48 hours (or more) you will get positive results. The mistakes people make is either applying it to dry grass, the wrong grass, they water it in or put it down shortly before it rains, or they don't put it down at the right time (when grass is out of dormancy and weeds are actively growing).

I paid $20.00 for the 15,000 sq ft bag at Wal-Mart about 4 weeks ago. Some stores still have it for that price. I'm waiting for it to go lower.

Sounds like you have cool season northern grass. Warm season grasses (Bermuda, zoysia, st augustine, centipede, etc) don't get fertilized beyond summer.
Weed and feed is NOT supposed to be put down in the summer.
You put it down in the late spring, AFTER your grass is fully green (come out of dormancy) and weeds actually start to appear.
This is a post emergent. It is not a preemergent. It will only kill the weed that are there for the granules to stick to. Unless there is a preemergent in it, like prodiamine, it won't prevent any new weeds. Preemergents should be put down in early winter, late winter, and early summer.

I paid $20.00 for the 15,000 sq ft bag at Wal-Mart about 4 weeks ago. Some stores still have it for that price. I'm waiting for it to go lower.

Btw...anyone know of an inexpensive post emergent for gripeweed/chamberbitter in Bermuda grass? I don't wanna spend $75-$100+ on something like Celsius, etc. I've just been spraying it with some 2,4d. It weakens it, but won't kill it. I don't want to harm my Bermuda. It's popping up everywhere. Pulling it supposedly spreads seeds.

I also noticed the weed killing results were short lived. Also can't say it made my grass any greener. Next time I'm just gonna use Milorganite. That stuff made my grass so green it looked fluorescent....

I highly advise against any sort of "weed n feed," especially in the summertime. I won't touch the stuff at all. It's the middle of summer and your grass mostly wants to go dormant. Let it. Don't fertilize it (unless it's pure organics). Once we get into September/October then start fertilizing your lawn again. I would choose a selective herbicide as well to knock out those weeds. This stuff is just terrible.

They were short lived because this only kills the weeds that the product can stick to. It is a post emergent. It won't prevent future weeds. That's why you put down a preemergent several times a year. It stops the weeds from germinating.

Exactly correct. I hate the fact that my shoes have a ton of the application stuck to them but that is how to apply it. And it must be dry weather for at least 24 hours. It works for me just fine.

I applied it in northern grass right at the time when grass grew green after spring. I did seem like less weed itially, but it was barely noticeable and worse at the end of season. I applied it in the morning with some dew on grass. I don't think it's end user fault with so many failures.

This stuff works great. As others have said, it's about the timing and putting it down correctly. More times than not, it's user error like putting it down a day before rain storms come in & it washes off. People gotta read & understand before putting it down. Your shoes should be covered in granules after putting it down because the grass must be damp when applying (like in the morning) instead of a dry lawn.
