Game Description:
- 5 years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.

I don't vehemently hate the second like the maniacs do, but I didn't enjoy the storyline at all. I guess as a result of that, I was dragging myself to get through it, which felt way, way too long. The cycle of gameplay really wore thin for me by the end.
I get what they were trying to do, but it just didn't work for me. YYMV

Gorgeous character movement and animation, incredibly detailed world design and the best sound design I have ever experienced in a game. The motion capture and acting sets a new standard.
Gameplay-wise, it evolves upon the original game in a few ways but doesn't do anything groundbreaking. Naughty Dog games are more about the cinematic experience and production values.
It feels great to play, the controls are on point and the combat is extremely visceral but there aren't any revolutionary mechanics.
This is a stealth-action, resource management game with light puzzle solving required to move to the next set piece/cut scene.
Naughty Dog made some incredibly bold narrative decisions to challenge the audience. For some people it didn't work....many others thought it was incredible, hence the many, many Game of the Year awards.
Some people didn't like that the marketing hid the big twists in the game and even misled the audience about the fates of certain characters so it left a bad taste in their mouth. They thought they were getting once thing and the script got flipped, there was no going back from there. I personally loved all the surprises even though some were emotionally gutting.
A small but loud minority got really mad about the sexuality of certain characters and have still not been able to let it go for some reason...and an even smaller group of people who probably already had mental problems went completely off the deep end and convinced themselves that they were somehow being victimized by this game and took it way too far, harassing developers, voice actors, reviewers, You-tubers and anyone who liked the game.
If you are someone who was heavily invested in the Last of Us part 1's characters, it's pretty unlikely that you haven't already played this. So I can't imagine anyone getting the game now is going to be too affected one way or the other by the story.
It feels weird to say this but I guess if you are personally offended by two ladies kissing but NOT bothered at all by the sound of gurgling blood as your character slits throat after throat, or seeing someone's intestines being ripped out of their abdomen with a hook....maybe this game is too mature for you.
Play it, form your own opinion, then move on because there are a bajillion new games coming out and it's the healthy thing to do
"Don't shove it down muh throat"
Do better. You could say the storyline was bad and the reasons why? Or you could say they over-sexualized the game which is a huge deviation from the predecessor.
I liked it gameplay wise but yeah story doesn't do it for me. They took a risk with the direction and ultimately I didn't feel it paid off in the end. You also gotta note this game doesn't have MP like the original which was brilliant. Once you're done the story, you'll only go back to it if you enjoyed it. Worth $20 though.

Unless you want the free pink hair dye and alphabet mafia membership with the purchase of the game.
