Above understanding is just my opinion
for 2. your anecdotal experience means little against the facts of the situation. google: "amazon commingled inventory". walmart and the grocery store buy their products through legitimate channels and can be traced directly back to the source. because amazon has 3rd party sellers, and they mix inventory, that supply chain integrity is out the door..
basically, you, as a 3rd party seller, can buy a bunch of widgets, and have them shipped to amazons warehouse.. you can then sell them on amazon for whatever price you want. amazon puts your pile of widgets in with their pile of widgets, and then when someone buys a widget. they pull it off of the same pile, whether it was bought through amazon, or some 3rd party seller. so if i, the 3rd party seller, buy, either knowingly or unknowingly, counterfeit widgets, there is an equal chance of you ending up with a counterfeit widget whether you buy through amazon, or 3rd party.

Costco - 125ct - $12.99 after coupon (when available) = 10.39 cents per tablet
BJs - 117ct - $12.99 after coupon (when available) = 11.10 cents per tablet
And don't forget to watch this video. It certainly opened my eyes to how washing machines work.

TL;DW - Prewash & Hot water
Edit-> I realized that the ones at BJs and Costco is the "Max-in-One Advanced Dishwasher Detergent Powerball" and I am not quite sure how it measures up to the ones in this deal.

Personally we've had good luck w/ the Kirkland ones, better than the basic all-in-one/powerball but not quite as good as quantum (when we tried those years ago). Price of the quantum made us try the Kirkland & have stayed w/ that lately. Should note we use a rinse aid, which does help it seems like w/ hard water. Still, I do the vinegar cleaning every 6 months or so - not because the glassware isn't clean but more for the eventual buildup on the stainless panels inside the dishwasher.
