Western Digital has the SN850 500 GB NVMe SSD on sale for 139.99. Use code WDSAVES5 for an additional $5 off. Free shipping and I wasn't charged tax to FL.

Please note that if you sign up for teacher or student discount it gives you the discount off the $169.99 regular price so WDSAVES5 is better.

This is the Heatsink version and is seemingly the preferred brand for the PS5.

Only the 500GB is in stock. 1 and 2 TB is in stock but only the non heatsink versions which would not be ideal for PS5.

Stupid question...even if it's hella fast, are people really paying a huge premium for a ps5-compatible drive because it's so fast when it's this small? I can 💯 see people paying big money for a super fast 2TB drive for a ps5, but at 500GB, it hardly seems worth it.

Yeah I would agree with that. While the PS5 library is still pretty small I would prefer to ride it out and wait for the cost of a 2TB to go down. Granted I've already filled up the internal but it's easy enough to offload the PS Plus games to an external USB and copy them back when needed.

Same here but for $135 I decided to bite. Seems like a fair price for a fast 500gb drive that I can add to my pc if I ever decided to upgrade my PS5 storage. Most places are selling for 169.99 if you can find it in stock so I was surprised at the thumbs down. Either way, I'm just glad Sony unlocked expandable storage.

Question.... Is the software update available yet to make this compatible? I heard it's still a month away.

Also, there are 1TB comparable for $199. You should put a heat sink on it, but the are about $6 on Amazon.

Honestly, I'd pay the additional $70 for a 1TB.

It is still beta version, it would release by the end of this year.
