Tips for longer usage:
1. Use PLASTIC/WOOD spatula
2. Remove leftover rice after your meal, add water to cover the bottom. Simply rinse and wipe the pot on the next day.
3. Never leave rice in the pot overnight

the "problem" is that when these Tiger or Zojirushi rice cookers are made in Japan, they frequently last 10, 15, or even 20 years.... if they don't break down, I have no excuse to buy another new one. I know someone who has a Zojirushi rice cooker that she bought way back in 1990 whey they were stationed in Japan. Still works just fine.(had dinner at her house a couple of months ago and it still made rice just fine)

it's not like a car that I can just park in a questionable neighborhood and leave the keys on the front seat
Here's the exact same model for those who prefer to pay double:

This is a great price for a Made in Japan model. Would buy if I didn't already have one.

If this is the real deal Made in Japan. Hell yeah at this price the added plus is that this isn't the larger size which can take up a bit of counter space its the perfect size.
100% made in japan, by 100% vietnamese labor. they import vietnamese labor there, working on all these rice cookers or water boilers & warmers.

What's so special in japanese rice cookers compared to instant pot? been ip user for last 5 years..
Instant pots don't do very keeping rice warm. They end up overcooking and drying out the rice. It's too bad we're trying to keto.

At Costco you can get an Instapot multi cooker for $79, seems like a better deal
You will learn one day that sometimes it's better to do one (or a select number of things) well instead of many things in a mediocre way.

I used to have a very expensive Zojirushi rice cooker. When I actually learned how to make good rice in the Instant Pot I immediately gave my $200 rice cooker to my brother.

YOU DO NOT NEED THIS IF YOU HAVE AN INSTANT POT

Edit: Actually the previous post does make a good point: if you need rice to be on hand all day, the Tiger will do a better job.

However I would argue that most people don't need that, and you can turn off the keep warm feature on a per-cook basis on your instant pot and the rice will stay very warm in the stainless steel bowl without drying out for at least an hour if not two.
How do you make very good rice in your instant pot?

dont leave rice in pot overnight but how are you going to keep the leftover? put them in the fridge? or just add water to cover the (outside) bottom and leave it outside in room temperature?

Scoop it out and put it into a bowl/tupperware. Ideally you don't want the cooked rice to cool down in the pot

It's a bit of trial and error but for the most part (given white rice for example) I would do for example, adjust ratios as needed:

2 cups rice, rinsed
2 cups water plus I favor an additional splash

That's basically it. The instant pot is extremely picky about the amount of water you use with your rice, which is why I'm hesitant to give exact figures, but once you nail it for your model you should find that it makes exemplary rice. Or at least, as good as my $200 rice cooker ever made.

I'm a "let it warm in the pot for up to 24hrs" heathen, but from what I understand you're supposed to either portion the rice out and freeze it for later, or toss it into the fridge for proper fried rice the next day Smilie
