I would have bought this just for the screen if people didn't scare the hell out of me with various build issues.

Can you mention some specifics? Might be a useful reference for those interested in buying.

I bought one from the Newegg deal. Build quality has been great. Already swapped in a 1TB to slot 1 m.2. So I got a look at the innards, I didn't see any issues. People complain about the cooling design and it getting throttled, so not sure if that is what folks are referring to. I have mine on a cool pad when gaming, I've seen no issues.

The OLED display is gorgeous BTW.

I have this laptop. The screen is amazing. The build quality is good, it's the Gigabyte Control Center that is awful. Work around is to end the process in Task Manager to more than double the battery life. Have not had a single wifi problem ever. It may have been the previous model or it was fixed in an update. This is the best value for specs and screen out by far.

If used for college, in a dorm, how would one lock this down? Laptop lock? What can be used?

It's 2.22kg or 4.9lbs. I used my kitchen scale to compare it to dell xps 7590 (2kg) and dell xps 9700 (2.4kg).

I'm not seeing a Kensington lock port on it. Seems like you would need to locate one of the bar contraptions you see on display models in the store.

Control center is so bad keeping the dgpu running that killing it more than quintuples my battery life.

I've also noticed I get sa bit better and at least much more consistent CPU benchmark scores after killing control center. In heavy GPU games like RDR2, I've seen the CPU drop down to 2.5ghz in lengthy periods due to heavy GPU load and temps in the 80C plus. This could be what some complained about throttling. I don't know how legions or amd rzyen laptops perform. But this is about as thin and light as a gaming laptop can get with a mid tier GPU.

No wifi issues for me. Although if running a heavy GPU active program, I've seen file transfer speeds drop from 60MB/s down to 20MB/s.

A bunch of aero owners complained about WiFi issues and how it drops connections for no reason.

Just a reminder that OLED screens have lower refresh rates. This is 60hz and since it's 4K the 3060 is going to be ok for gaming but you may want a higher refresh rate or a 1080 display if that's your primary use. Obviously it all changes if you are using it docked.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

total piece of crap, mine should be back there tomorrow. Huge wifi dropping issues, kept freezing up, keyboard lights continuously flashing and no way to shut them off. Battery life sucked and laptop gets super hot. Tried three times to reset to factory and it refused to reset so just had to delete everything as best as I could before sending it back to them. In fact the last time I tried factory reset it won't let you even back on to see if it worked, shows your profile but fingerprint nor pin would let you on..

OLED with 60hz is OK for gaming. No motion blur or anything makes your eyes feel not comfortable. IMO I would definitely compromise 120hz to OLED for its blackness and color.

Always make sure CPU usage is less than 2% when idling. Sometimes bloatware uses CPU and eats battery life, also fan would very noisy.
