This is incorrect and covered in OPs description. Motorola offers instructions on how to open the 2nd ethernet port for LAG.

NOTE: The MB8600 supports LAG on Ports 1 & 2 only, for speeds up to about two Gigabits per second.

Granted I would appreciate fiber as well but most people are at the mercy of the ISP running fiber to their neighborhood first. You are acting like everyone has that as an option but unfortunately most don't.
Depends what ISP speeds you get. The 6141 is rated for 343/131 and I'd leave a bit of a buffer so a bit below that. If it's working and below that there's no reason to upgrade.

I have this modem and it's great. I use it with a tp link ax 1800 router. I live in a crappy apartment in niles, IL (close to Chicago) and speed tests for extreme pro (up to 800 down) show 811 down / 21 up. It has never disconnected or dropped since installing a few months ago.

I am currently looking for a multi Gig Modem. Considering options between 'Motorola MB8611', 'Nighthawk CM2000' and 'Arris S33'. Appreciate your suggestions. TIA.
I'd say between the Moto and Arris. Arris owns Motorola and motorola is actually the old Zoom. Both use the exact same chipset but despite the Arris getting good reviews as well - I d go with the Motorola because it is in a significanty larger casing which should help quite a bit with heat dissapation. The S33 is tiny.

2000's technology with a slight speed boost with DOCSIS 3.1. I've been a cable modem user for decades. After upgrading to fiber, my I'm much happier.
Were you gigabyte with each? What is the major difference you experience?

Ive seen a lot more folks reporting issues with Netgear modems historically than the other two but that may be a luck of the draw. I know some folks swear they are nothing but trouble but there are also plenty of folks who say they never had an issue with theirs.

If you get a good deal and warranty giving the Netgear a try probably can't hurt - but otherwise the safer bet seems to be to go with one of the other two. Think Netgear s warranty is only a year tho vs two on the Motos.

oh ok. If that the case, then the Moto and Arris seem better in that regard. i will look into those further then. Appreciate your input. Ty

Symmetric upload/download speeds, less latency overall, virtually no bufferbloat. Cable internet doesn't have bad ping (per se) but it has tons of bufferbloat meaning pings skyrocket when you're saturating the bandwidth.

Guys save yourself some time:

READ THIS -

https://approvedmodems.org/bad-modems/

This is a great modem for the money since gigabit offerings have become a standardized possibility for most home networking equipment.

I haven't seen a LAG compatible plan with a carrier in our area but for gigabit connectivity this modem will definitely do the job.

I see people asking about "brands" -

On my list (minus Intel's flaws)
1) Netgear for support seems to be trustworthy
2) Arris - these modems are widely compatible and reliable.

BUT Motorola is one of those hit or miss brands you really gotta know the guts to make a informed decision on.

10G through link aggregation or LAG is just 10 times faster than gigabit I don't think I even use that much internet.

Optimum Approved Modems

Below you will find the Optimum approved modems list. There are a few options for one to purchase their own modem for Optimum's internet service.

Read the Cable Modem Buying Guide to help you choose a modem. Do not forget to purchase your modem accessories.

Internet providers have begun removing some DOCSIS 3.0 modems from their networks. To maximize the years of use from a modem, it is strongly recommended to purchase a DOCSIS 3.1 device (the latest standard).
