I have this generator and 1000W is max surge. It is rated 800W continuous and before buying I read that someone took it apart and the inverter module is really only good for 700-750.
Therefore I wouldn't expect anything more than 700W for reliable operation.
2000W would be a much safer bet (although more expensive) for your portable.
They even say to try to run them at 50% load for best efficiency, so even if you only need 1000w, the 2000w inverter will be quieter.
This one makes sense if you're only recharging batteries, though.
