That's because flashing lights affect depth and speed perception of those viewing them. It's not considered safe because it often causes other riders and drivers to misjudge your speed and distance. Slow pulsing lights are much safer.

If you're an endurance cyclist, this is a huge deal. This is the only high powered bike light I've found that you can charge via USB while in use. If you plan on cycling overnight or have a 200 mile journey, this specific line of bike lights is crucial. I held back from buying one for myself because of the price so this deal is huge to me. Thank you, OP!

Full disclosure: The reviews on Amazon hint that the batteries may not last forever and the build quality isn't 100% but for the time being, there aren't any better alternatives if you plan on cycling for 3+ hours in the dark.

I've owned multiple L&M Urban lights and really dig the mount, reliability, and overall quality. Just replaced the strap and battery on my 650 after about five years of active use, and plan on getting at least another five out of it.

Bang for the buck, that Urban 900 looks like a great deal!

They are not. You can have the manufacturer replace them, but it requires shipping the product back

I have the Urban 900 light, bought for $60 from Jenson USA back in 2018. I use it mounted GoPro style on the bottom side of a combo mount under my bike computer on my commuter/rain bike. It's a good light, although I've ended up using it less in the dark than I expected. Definitely overkill for just riding during daylight hours, it doesn't even have a flash mode because of some EU law, only slow pulse, so it's not the most attention grabbing.

Distance isn't hard to judge during daylight conditions. It's better to take notice of the light, period, thus flashing is superior. That's the same reason the Garmin Varia rear light flashes when a vehicle approaches from behind, rather than slow pulse.

Has anyone compared these to Bontrager's ion with daytime running use?

I've had the ion pair for years and what I like about them, both can be seen from quite aways.
Just having to charge them sooner so wondering if they are still top notch like they were when I bought them.

Does anyone know if any of these lights use USB-C? I do need a decent light but only purchase items now with USB-C (hate carrying extra cables). If none of these, any other recommendations to fit my needs?

You'll be hard pressed to find a bike light that takes USB-C

I have Cygolite Metro Pro 1100 that can be used while being charged via USB.
