Anyone have any luck applying their 15% off coupon to this drive?

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/wd-w...Id=6425637

Thinking about picking it up to install into my PS5, and the price would be pretty decent with the additional 15% off of the sale price.

Dang. I tried at my local store and they said it's not available, and that they probably weren't a participating store (either that or they're incompetent).

the coupon itself *looks* like a cell phone in their database. They will need to look very carefully to find the appropriate text that reflects this promotion.

What is considered an " eligible storage device"? Does it have to be working? Does it have to be a hard drive or can it be a microsd card or thumb drive? I wish they would give us details before we go to the store.
I recycled the shucked cases for my HDDs. There wasn't even a drive in them. LOL. They really don't check or care.

They don't seem to care. Not saying I would try with a blank CD/DVD, but if it looks similar to a "storage device" they already sell in store, I doubt they'll give you any hassle. They don't even scan the trade-in into the system, so it could really be anything.

Tried getting a coupon, the lady kept saying the only 15% off promotion she had was for networking. FINALLY she found it on another screen or something.

i went back in after I read the misplaced promo in this thread and suggested looking there. She claimed she did. But I'm not surprised if she truly looked that hard. I guess I ended up schmoozing her as she basically just arbitrarily applied 15% off when I pointed out the drive on the shelf I would buy if I could get the coupon LOL.

I was able to order a WD SN850 2TB drive for $314 after the coupon. Just had to order in store. Everything went smoothly.

I did without issue. Came out to just under $315. There was no stock at my local store, so I just had them ship it to my home.

Are there any "directions" that could be provided to BB employees? Tried myself... they seemed clueless.

Print out 3rd page of this webpage "tradein.bestbuy.com/client/#/Current-Promotions/", bring it to store and show it to those clueless associates

Thought I'd add my experience:

I spent >30mins at my local BB - short(ish) version, in no particular order:

1. This doesn't show up in their internal ("Blue" something?) site under any kind of trade-in promo.
2. No one (right up to the Mgr) at the store knew anything about this.
3. This does show up under the Recycling take-ins page.
4. As indicated by others on this thread, it shows up under a cordless phone recycling take-in.
5. Even though the text of the promo itself states "storage device," the person helping me initially insisted that I therefore needed to turn in a cordless phone (she wasn't clear on whether it was in addition-to or in-lieu-of a storage device).
6. After further consultation with yet-more in-store personnel, they agreed that it simply meant a storage device, sans cordless phone.
7. Nobody knows why it's under a cordless phone recycling take-in.
8. They had to fill out a form for law enforcement indicating how my storage device being recycled was obtained, from where, approx when, and agreeing that I will not get it back.
9. I dunno if item 8 applies everywhere or was just a quirk where I live.
10. I had 4 "storage devices" with me and asked the intake person to choose which one they want to take (2x flash cards, 2x USB sticks).
11. They didn't seem to care which they take, which implies that flash cards are/were acceptable, at least at my location.
12. Everything above will likely need to be run through all over again each time someone else tries this.
13. The printed coupon does indeed state "SINGLE USE. In store only" and "Offer valid 8/8/2021 - 1/29/2023"
14. I did try the UPC string as an online code and it wasn't accepted (was worth a try)

Hope that helps someone!

By showing the 3rd page from "tradein.bestbuy.com/client/#/Current-Promotions/" I got the BestBuy's store associate confirmation right away that she also saw the promotion page clearly nicely on her store computer. However, when she proceed the trade-in using typical/conventional category "Computers", the computer didn't give her an option to get 15% OFF coupon. She told me she needed to call BestBuy's internal services for help. Sure, that's her job to do, not my business telling her how to resolve the matter, or what other category to select to get the coupon. As long as BestBuy's store associate honored the promotion with no muss no fuss, I am cool. So I stayed put letting her talking to Best Buy internal services. After like 10 mins, the store associate could print out a few pages, I signed on one page and got the coupon. Check out the censored image below.

Electronic manufacturers should be forced to take back the old electronics they manufactured and recycle them properly.
