Actually, many reports of being able to unlock it if you never boot the phone with a Verizon sim.

Seems like a decent deal for a brand spankin new unlocked 3XL. I grabbed a new 2XL from B&H for $140.00 but probably should have gone for the 3.

This is a nice $30 price drop from what its been at for a few weeks. Nice deal on a Google Flagship. Yes, its a few years old, but it still has a very fast processor, a great camera, 128GB storage, a nice OLED screen, and it will update to Android 11 right away. It will get security updates through October this year at least. I decided to grab one for when my wife smashes her Moto Z3. I bought a nice iPhone XS Max for her last January (the SD Walmart deal), but she refused to switch from Android. She had a Pixel 2 for a long time, until she smashed it...My kids want the iphone now...

He's talking about the bootloader which is different than sim/carrier unlock. Some people want a unlockable bootloader if they plan on flashing custom ROM OS.

Metro uses T-Mobile bands. This phone has them all, including Band 71 for 600Mhz coverage. This phone will work well with any US based carrier.

how can people be ok buying a new phone that only has security patches for another couple of months? are we assuming they'll do it another year? Even still.
