This is not an overly powerful air fryer it doesn't burn things at all just gets them to a brown . The space in it is huge … one drawback is the touch screen is very sensitive and wonky. I've owned it for about a year now

Looks like it came from the same factory that makes the 8qt Gourmia from Walmart

I'm on the fence between this and the Gourmia 6 quart at Costco. The Gourmia is about the same price currently, is a little smaller, and goes on sale sometimes.

My main concern is if the non-stick parts start to flake. If from Costco, I can return easily anytime. Not sure about the return policy of the Chefman. Thoughts? Anyone use either?
I have both the Gourmia and the Chefman 8qt. I'd choose the Gourmia IF it were 8 qt. I'd get this in 8qt over Gourmia in 6.

They cook equally, honestly, but the touch panel on the Chefman is maddening. Seriously, it's completely unpredictable. I have to click 'fish' then 'off' to get it to stop running for whatever reason.

The Gourmia has way more buttons, but honestly, I hardly use the buttons anyways. Gourmia also has decent support. I was able to purchase new teflon inner plates directly from them, for just a few bucks a piece.

All of that said, for $50-$60, this is a great buy still.

The best air fryer I've used. I can't recommend this air fryer enough. Get it for this price, it's an incredible deal. I got it for this price during Black Friday and use it nearly everyday.
Ditto. Love it. I also have the Gourmia toaster oven type air fryer-- never use it for air frying (mostly only as toaster oven)-- always the Chefman, it's awesome!

Ok question for those of you who've owned this one for a while. I have the 6qt Gourmia from Costco and the non-stick on it has worn off the tray and the bottom of the drawer. Those spots where the covering has come off have now rusted over from cleaning and it's pretty much unusable. The black tray was also almost impossible for me to keep clean. This was over 5-6 months.

So my question is, does the Chefman hold up any better and is it worth getting over doing a return/exchange at Costco for another round of the Gourmia? I don't mind buying a new one if it's worth it, larger, and will last longer, especially at this price. Thanks

Look up Air Fryer Silicone Mats. They make the mats with a bunch of holes in them so that the heat and air can flow through it. These mats are easily washable, nothing sticks to them, they handle high heat and they protect the food from coming into contact with the metal or plastic from the fryer basket.

As to your question, the Chefman and Gourmia have about the same reputation and both have a high number of positive reviews.

When cooking or reheating to a similar brownness in air fryers like this vs. a regular (convection) oven, will this produce any more smoke or odor in the house?

Also, how much faster will air fryers like this cook or reheat, compared to an oven?

TIA

I had the same problem with the non-stick coating flaking off the inner tray in my 8 qt Gourmia after about 6 months. I contacted Gourmia's customer support and asked if it was covered by warranty. After I sent them a picture of the inner tray and my Walmart receipt, they sent me a new inner tray. Someone else mentioned they were able to buy the inner tray from Gourmia for a few bucks each. Try contacting Gourmia's customer support, which has been great and quick to respond to my e-mails.

Is this any better than a convection oven ?
Anything that really stands out cooking with this than a regular oven, grill or fryer ?
Does all the food have to be spread out in one layer i.e I can't use half or 3/4 of the volume or the food won't crisp ?

Easier to use and smaller are the main benefits. My oven is convection but the air fryer still cooks faster. And easier to clean, of course.

I recommend the basket type, and not filling the basket by stacking. If I cook a single layer or so of snugly fit fries, they're crispy in 10 mins. A whole bag? Double it, and worse results unless you shake it constantly.

Other air fryers have a removable Inner basket. So they can remove inner basket to shake without shaking up the oil on the bottom.
Yeah this one looks like garbage design. large space but no basket or levels....You'd need 2 of them to cook portions for 2+ people

I have the Gourmia 8qt and when I saw this I thought it looks just like mine. For grins, I called the Chefman support number and asked the person who answered if they were the same company as Gourmia because of the observed similarities. She said not to her knowledge, and she had not heard of Gourmia 🤷 ♂️

I honestly don't love my Gourmia. It cooks food I guess, but the touch controls are frustratingly unresponsive and unintuitive. As others have mentioned, it's not easy to dump contents after cooking. The metal tray is kinda flimsy and sharp. i've never filled the basket up all the way, but the bigger footprint tray hasn't been as amazing as I thought it would be. I can only get it in my dishwasher top rack in one very specific position and orientation.

400 F isn't hot enough for a max temp. The Ninja at Costco goes to 500 and I use that temp setting all of the time. I'll use that tonight to cook salmon for 5-6 min.
How much is the ninja cost? Smilie

Yes. And that gourmia goes on sale for $10 less.
