KLIM Serenity + Laptop Cooling Stand $13 shipped (Amazon Prime)

KLIM Serenity + Laptop Cooling Stand black, white, and blue are $12.97, the red one is $16+

Bought this last week. It's not meant to be a full-blast cooler. Fans run pleasantly quiet. If you need a little something, these are nice. Very light weight. thin metal top, plastic base, USB powered with on/off switch.

I've got this on a MSI GS66 that runs cool naturally (didn't need a re-paste out of the box) but still drops the temps a few degrees with no real load and keeps it honest when under load.

None of these really do a decent job cooling the internals of the computer. all they do is help keep the outside of it cool. exception is if you have one of those alloy laptops where the case itself acts as a kind of heatsink.

Every test I have ever seen indicates that these things will perhaps reduce fan speed on your laptop's own cooling fans a bit, but they are not effective in actually reducing temperatures. I have a more expensive one and wondered why it didn't seem to help, which was why I did the research. In my case it's still useful for one specific reason. I got a pretty nasty burn when I fell asleep with my gaming laptop in my lap. It doesn't keep it any cooler, but it keeps it off of my legs. 🤷 ♂️

Replace the plastic windows of shed with this, you can DIY and make your shed cool down during summer.

I have done some research on this. The Cooler Master NotePal X-Slim has some good CFM (72) compared to most coolers on amazon but I went with the ANEXT, 120mm USB Fan,2pack . I bought two of those so they made a squared stand for my laptop that i leave on my desk most of the time. I positioned them right where I wanted the airflow to go in.

These were pretty cheap on Prime day so if you can wait they will probably go on sale again.

I use one with two big fans on my HP Omen and it does seem to help. I think it just depends on design, the air intake is on the bottom and aligns with the two fans. I'll have to do some testing I guess. I figured two larger and slower fans would be better than 4 little whiny ones. Seemed like cheap insurance as long as the ambient temps aren't too high. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XDLYH8N/ KLIM Pro for $15 better deal with five year warranty

I recently purchased the KLIM serenity cooling pad and had to return it. In my case, when the laptop was placed on the cooling pad, the upper surface of the pad would bend down because of the weight and touch the rotating fans. This caused a grinding sound from the fans.
The upper surface is made cheaply so it made think it's a design issue and not an issue with the particular unit.
When it comes to functionality, yes, the unit seemed to bring down the cpu temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees.

This is a decent one. Its super light but strong enough to keep your laptop cooled.

None of these actually are good for cooling. I service computers daily and the ones that use these come in with the laptop plugged shut with dust in every vent or crevice. Almost all of them once plugged up are overheating because of using one of these.

Maybe that's because the laptops you're seeing already have issues with overheating, and the owners buy these to try and fix the problem before calling a professional?

cooling pads absolutely work. are they super effective or better than re pasting? no but they do help by raising your laptop off a surface and allow your fans to draw in more air. watch jarrod tech's laptop reviews and he always includes a benchmark with a cooling pad during stress testing and it is lower than not using one.

All I know is I researched laptop coolers a bit before building my own and a lot of the articles online indicate they do keep your laptop cooler.

Personally, I notice that it keeps my laptop's fan running at minimum speed for most of the workday. Without my laptop cooler, the fan would rarely run at minimum speed. My laptop does have intake vents at the bottom, so that definitely helps. I like to think the air that the cooler is blowing against the intake area lowers air pressure so that the fan can move more heat. I'm no physicist, so I could be totally wrong, but my anecdotal comment is that it helps in my situation.
