For anybody thinking of this vs vitamix, you'll probably find that vitamix fans will disparage the blendtecs. I have had both. I did consider the vitamix an upgrade, but the blendtec was no slouch. I blended a lot of good smoothies, sauces, and soups.
-The vitamix blends are slightly smoother and are produced more quickly.
-I still like some things about the wildside jar, depending on what you're blending. Lid, however is more likely to leak if filled too much.

In short, vitamix is an upgrade, but, at this price point, blendtec is a great buy. Cheapest vitamix on sale that I have seen is about $100 more than this, so if this fits your budget better, it's worth considering.

Model #C570A2301C-COSTCO

Why does Home Depot sell stuff with "COSTCO" at the end of its model#?

Did Costco purchase Home Depot?

Thanks!

This has the "Special Buy" label so my guess is it's probably an overstocked item.

Special Buy usually means it's a cheaper version / Home Depot exclusive version of a product but sometimes they end up with overstocked items of other retailers. Especially online.

Could also be that they've partnered with Costco to drop ship some items. A lot of third party retailers on the Home Depot site. I feel like this is relatively unlikely though.

This does not seem to be a flagship Blendtec

I get the feeling blendtech has consistency issues with their products. I have owned both and the blendtech was trash, but a lot of people like yourself said there isn't that much gap.

Flip side is I literally never see anyone have a bad thing to say about their Vitamix

Bought it but then canceled. Good price but shorter warranty than the rest of their line. Still not a cheap investment though. I am not sure why, but Blendtec is deemed as the least reliable brand on CR. Kind of surprising. I guess I'll wait for SD on a solid Vitamix or really cheap Ninja.

I have had one of these for about 13 years now. It's still going strong with daily use. The vitamix blenders are probably better because they actually have sharp blades, but performance will suffer over time as they dull. The blendtec dull blades are still working like they were new. I make up for the performance difference by running 2 cycles, with a little shake of the blender in between.

My favorite accessories are the magic bullet like thing and the small jar with twist tamper for thick sauces.

I have 2 blentec and 4 vitamix and while I like both vitamix is definitely superior than blentec many ways

Do NOT buy blendtec!!!!! I had 3 from Costco and all broken within 2 years!!!!! The motor has serious issues being burnt after months of light use - smoothie. It is definitely an engineering issue! So settle yourself with a good ninja or vitamix!

I'll throw in my two cents.

I bought a Blendtec Classic about 5-6 years ago. I only use it for smoothies and the occasional salsa (if my $15 walmart blender is dirty). I never made soups or fine grain flours with it -- none of the fancy stuff you see at the demo stations.

About half-way through my six years, I noticed the motor would start overheating if I ran my blender for more than 3-4 mins on a high power setting. Maybe I added too much I thought. I put in less stuff and tried lower power settings. It still would occur. I tried cleaning it as best as I could without opening it up, and that maybe helped a bit; but the overheat error still pops up every once in a while.

A year ago, I was making my typical triple berry smoothie on the preset smoothie setting. It was half capacity. Nothing crazy. The Jar crack and before I could shut it off, it broke in half, with a couple of shards flying around. Without exaggerating, with the velocity, it could've easily cut me or killed me if one of the pieces of the jar hit me in the wrong spot. i contracted Blendtec, told them what happened, and they were very apologetic and sent me a new Wildside jar.

I'm still using the Blendtec in spite of it leaking like another poster said. But the overheating issue prevents me from making a good smoothie; the engine in mine simply sucks. We bought a Vitamix at Costco for $250 or more as a trial. And put the Blendtec to shame. The thing really does have sharper blades and pulverizes even the finest seeds or grains in your smoothie. My triple berry smoothie from a Blendtec will have seeds -- the Vitamix gives you a seedless product. I wish they paid me to advertise for them. I ended up returning the Vitamix because I couldn't justify the $250 at the time.

Long story short, Vitamix makes the best high power blender but their entry level product is at least $100 more than Blendtec. Look around for a sale. But if you want the best blender... it's the Vitamix. Unless Blendtec has better engines and blades and jars, then it's a second rate product and I will never recommend them.
