So it seems I am having issues with the satellite unit now. Actually for a couple days now but didn't notice as it was at night. I received disconnect/reconnect alerts from my Ring system. But today it's happening during the day and have not been able to get it reconnected remotely. Main unit still up and running. Won't be home for another few hours. Need to research a fix now or else it's going back. Was really great up until now. Any tips @peteythestriker?
Make sure you update the firmware. You have to download and then press the button to install it.

The latest firmware 1.0.5 Build 20210420 Rel. 75992 came out a month back and said it improved stability and backhaul performance.

After I update and it says ok I reboot everything just to check.

Yep night and day difference with the only possible issue a very small select people experience, is the 2nd node disconnecting from the main 1st node occasionally. Its in a very few instances I seen it mentioned but worth letting people know even if unlikely. Outside of that I dont see any problems with these units, they are amazing!

Why this is not FP and why its not getting more TU just shows how "knowledgeable" a lot of users on slick deals are. Cause I seen some single router and old mesh close to this price or more costly get a lot of love which cant compare to this in anyway.
Well said - the 2nd node disconnects every few days for me. It's terribly frustrating. However when it works, it works well. I ended up returning it anyways.

I had this and returned it after the last sale. Good speed when it worked but had disconnects and honestly these mesh systems are so limited. Looking for a new router and just not sure where to go. ax89x is tempting but so close to 63 router pricing.

Hi, the @ does not notify anyone, so if you want to get someones attention quote them it will be the best way for anyone to see if someone is talking to them.

Just to confirm your running the units in a mesh and not AP's correct? Only time I heard of the disconnection issue it was in mesh so just double checking.

Only two things you can really try, easiest power cycle the second unit and see if that fixes the problem. Check to see if both units are on the same firmware so there is not a mismatch. Do a factory reset of the second unit and set it up again.

The other thing I would watch out for, if any of the units are around any bluetooth or radio/microwave equipment move them away from those sources as when those things kick in it can make the radios go crazy.

If its only the ring devices having the issue, they are notorious for not playing well with mesh of any type, and peoples work around has been to put them on the guest network at 2.4ghz mode only.

If problem persists you are out of options return them, roll the dice on another set and see if you have better luck on round 2. I guess you have one more option, use your existing router and just use the devices in AP mode instead of Mesh.
Thanks for the tips! Yes, in mesh mode and not AP. I removed and reset the satellite unit to factory, then reinstalled. Rebooted entire system afterwards, and both units indicate they're on latest FW. Ring not the only ones losing connection, so did my thermostat. Those are the only ones I got alerts for. When I checked yesterday when it happened during the day, the satellite indicated it was offline/disconnected. After reinstall last night, I still got a couple Ring alerts early this morning of disconnects/reconnects. So I went in the app and turned off mesh for all stationary IoT's, just in case. Will see how this plays out. Would it help to maybe swap the main/satellite units with each other? Will give it a couple more days. If it doesn't work out, may switch it for the Orbi RBK753S.

Yep, firmware update was the first thing I did (and it prompted me anyway) when I initially installed the system. That's the same version I currently have.

Are TP-Link's AX3600 units known for disconnect issues too?

It would not hurt to swap it master/slave just to see if any changes. If your still having bad luck I would try one replacement set and see if that fixes your problem after that go nuts on another set. The RBK753s are a great set but again nowhere near the performance of these guys.

These disconnect issues seem to involve IOT type devices somewhere in the mix. Meshes try to combine all the bands and let you roam. Perhaps if you turn off roaming it'll be more stable until they address it in firmware?

Not that it is proof of anything but I have fast roaming, or whatever they call it, turned off and no disconnect issues.

The X68s are brand new, I have only seen two reviews on them so far but none that really taxed the system both reviews said the system was stable and they had no issues. The only real compliant one person had was that they phoned home a lot, but TP-Link responded to him and told him thats cause of the network security feature built in, Avira I beleive it was called, that was included and in the future they will make an option to turn that off if they dont want to use that security feature.

If your looking for a good triband seems like they might be it, when I see some reviews on good performance numbers I will update but not sure when that will happen. Last review I saw person was getting around 600Mbps but I dont recall what his ISP speeds were.

When it comes to node disconnection issue it was more common the M9+s but even then it was a very small % of the 100ks of units sold. Right now from this forum you and two other guys reported it. Since I use my system as a single router since my space is too small for both I have never put my second unit through the paces to see for myself cause I would have way to much overlap between the two units messing me up.

Can you have different SSIDs for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands? I have the orbi rbk50 and am able to separate the SSIDs based on an unofficial workaround. But there orbi is showing its age.. need to get it replaced.

edit: never mind, it seems the SSIDs cannot be separated.

Two days and two nights now since the changes I previously mentioned, and no disconnect alerts yet. I didn't want to give an update too soon and jinx it. Also got a FW update last night and installed for both units, release 66057. I'm not sure which change made it stable, but keeping my fingers crossed. As of right now, all my stationary IoT devices have mesh turned off.

And yes, I do have fast roaming on since the beginning.

Spoke too soon. Satellite unit getting disconnected again today, and apparently may have been doing it past couple days as well. My Ring system somehow hopped onto the main unit even though I turned off mesh for it (it's a couple feet away from the satellite unit), that's why it never disconnected and I got no alerts. Wife working from home said connection been spotty all week upstairs where the node is, but never told me! At this point, I'm looking for an alternate brand.
