Can you use this for mechanic work as a replacement for an air hammer? Looking to pound out ball joints, studs, etc

The cover photo is the 1 1/8" model (dch263b), not this model, just fyi. I recognize it from another deal from a few months ago. Still good deal though

Is the included 5 piece set for 150 worth it? Do these only take certain bits?

I don't need this now or for anything upcoming but... I am convincingly lying to myself that I do need it. Is it wrong to create a project to justify buying a tool?
Go big or go home maybe, you can rent a 2in with 14 ft/lbs (~18 J) for about $60/day...

They certainly don't take standard drill bits, if that's what you're asking. You need SDS plus bits. The 5 piece combo is the same price, to the cent, as buying the bits separately.

Stop, hammer time. Been wanting this for so long and now it arrives tomorrow. Almost pulled the trigger on the Bosch yesterday even though I'm invested in Dewalt, so I'm thrilled to get an XR at this price! Thank you OP!

Do sds and sds+ bits interchange? Google isn't exactly clear. Anyone have actual experience?

The SDS chuck system was the original developed by Bosch.

SDS Plus is an improvement on the original SDS system, but remains compatible with SDS bits, and is now the most commonly seen on the market.

SDS Max is designed for the heaviest masonry work, and is incompatible with SDS/SDS+ bits.
