I have these and they kind of suck, leave globs of purple in the toilet bowl and dissolve very slow

My plumber told me not to put any tablets in the toilet because they corrode the hardware.

Ehhh, ok deal. $2.88 at my Walmart every day price. Walmart picture looks like newer packaging, this may be a clean out of old stock.

They worked well for me but I stopped using them because the bathroom and room next to it were not always ventilated (unless bathroom fan is on) and I worried the kids and wife were inhaling more chlorine than they should on regular basis. I could smell the scent. I am back to manually cleaning or putting up with the occasional filth.

That is in the tank, and he is right. These go in the bowl and aside from possibly staining the bowl won't harm any hardware. That said I will stick with the sticker things that lysol and Magic Bubbles make that go in the bowl. Worked well so far
