The app itself can be a little iffy sometimes, but using it through Alexa and SmartThings is a lot more reliable. My plants love that they get sunshine before I'm awake, and I love that the curtains close automagically at sunset. It helps the house look like someone's home if I'm not, and I know if I was more mindful, I could regulate the temperature in my house better. I don't currently have my solar panel hooked up to it, but it took months before the battery charge wore down. Then, it was just an overnight charge up for each and it was all back to being fine.
There was some difficulty in set up, I won't lie about that. I had a pair of curtains that opened and closed together with a string? It didn't really like the string, and since I was automating the curtains, I just took the string out. There was also a problem with the rod being telescopic, and so we finagled a sort of gradual from the skinny half to the larger one with tape. We used clear packing tape, so you can't tell. I don't have more curtains, but I want more anyways.
I thought they would be gimmicky, but honestly they're one of my favorite home automation purchases so far. It's really awesome to have my bedroom curtains open automatically in the morning to wake me up, and to have the curtains on the street-level windows open and close with sunrise and sunset. I can also close my curtains from anywhere in the house if my dog starts barking at pedestrians.
I don't have the solar charger (my curtains are sheer and hung too high to position the solar charger properly) so I can't speak to that, but honestly I've only had to charge them once since I got them about 8 months ago (maybe longer?).
Build quality is rock solid. The app is meh, but as another poster mentioned it works very well with voice assistants.
Surprisingly useful product. Just bought 8 more for the rest of the curtains.
I was a kickstarter backer and bought 6 of these with solar and hub and whatever other bells and whistles they came with. They did not mention in the campaign that you needed to attach a transparent strip of plastic with little pegs every few inches along the top of the curtain for it to work with grommets. They realized throughout the testing process that the motors could not pull the curtain shut without this attachment. The attachment is still slightly visible, and kind of janky looking. It also doesn't do the job properly as the motor would still get stuck on my curtains (especially on ones that had some friction due to low clearance between top of sliding door and ceiling, but even on ones with no extra resistance). I also have extendable IKEA rods, which are 2 different diameters. The motors would consistently get stuck on that part.
One thing I do have to say is their customer support is top notch, as they tried to work through the problems with me and when we couldn't resolve them they provided a full refund for my pledge.

I've yet to find a retrofit automation solution for regular horizontal blinds. I'm still looking, something reasonable has to show up at some point.
I figure at the very least, it'll piss my wife off-- another "smart" thing that doesn't work until I fiddle with it for 30 minutes. Then stops working again when she goes to use it.
Is the "smart hub" required for smarthome integration (Alexa etc)?
