It's $70 if you go Newegg route: https://slickdeals.net/f/15216952-evga-z20-rgb-optical-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-for-69-99-w-fs-after-pc?src=SiteSear
So no, I don't see anything close to $50 at all.
Good luck!

I really thought blue switches were fun for a minute though.
What does he have now, a cheaper membrane model? If so, he might be more familiar with a "tactile" key. Different manufacturers label them with different colors, usually brown, but who knows with all of them.
I have the EVGA Z15 from a month back. Physically, it is not a bad product thus far. Its management/programming software is awful, just like many other people say. I hate their software. I also have a SteelSeries Apex 7. Both tactile, but not clicky, although louder than a membrane. I will use the SteelSeries as it auto changes keyboard key colors/styles based on the application/game. I'll keep the EVGA in the hopes they release better software, but I doubt it. Look at their website, it still looks like the 2000s. If your budget is not much of an issue, I like the SteelSeries and thus far wouldn't have an issue getting another. I hear people really like Razor's non-membrane products a lot, I have no hands-on experience though.
