I was quite surprised to learn that these actually work. I had calcium chunks from years of hard water and some were blocking the sprayer holes. This liquid cleaner dissolved them. I first tried the tablet style and that didn't work.

Citric acid works too and is "food safe", but can "etch" some glasses.

I don't use many glasses, so I just throw a couple tablespoons of citric acid in with my dishes. Keeps my dishwasher pretty clean.

I got this a couple days ago from the last time it was posted. I don't know what the problem is, it's on its second cycle but the wax plug simply hasn't melted away. First time I stuck it in the middle of the lower tray, today I have put it right above the heating element and its still not showing any signs on melting. As far as I'm aware my dishwasher is functioning normally otherwise.

Though you probably did, make sure it's on the hottest setting. Perhaps "Pot scrubbing" and maybe "Sanitize" mode.HTH.

Thanks. I looked in to it a bit further and it seems my heating element is no longer... uh... heating. I guess I didn't really notice that the dishes weren't dry at the end of the cycle. So, new thermostat or heating element it is!
