I posted this in the other deal thread but it applies here as well: That 15 watt tube amp is plenty for a band if you pair it with a 2x12 or 4x12 cab and don't need a pristine clean tone. I was able to keep up with a drummer and even got told to turn it down by the other guitar player. Great amp, wish I would have had it when I started playing guitar.

I have the five watt paired with a DS2 pedal. They play nice together.

What's something in this price range that would compare? Better off getting a name brand amp?

Used Fender Blues Jr. can be found for around $300 (local Facebook market, OfferUp etc.). On average they may be going at a higher price around $350+ but I've seen a few at $300 and had to stop myself from buying it. I got a Vox AC10 for $350. It's a $150 jump from this but I prefer the tone. Else if you are looking for home/practice use and ok with modeling amp, Positive Grid Spark or Boss Katana are in this price range and both are plenty loud for the purpose.

I think it's a direct copy of a Laney amplifier

It's a laney club12 clone. I'm a big fan of this amp, at twice the price it would be a solid purchase and at this price it's a no brainer. I don't love the analog spring reverb, but it's a very nice feature. It can rattle when you're playing loudly, which kind of bothered me. I removed it and velcroed a decent digital reverb and I'm honestly very happy with it. Highly recommend.

Don't know could be, depends on what you're looking for. Small tube amps are usually voiced for a lot of clean headroom, or for easy breakup without a pedal in the front end. I'd check YouTube reviews. I have a fender mustang GT100 myself which is a solid state modeling amp that sounds fantastic. I recently bought a Beringer tube amp modeler pedal, and the tweed tone is epic, especially with a strat. Think hendrix experienced/axis type tones.

Got one the last time at this price. It's a solid buy at $300.

It's ultimately down to what you play and what sound you want. But yes, Laney is a respected producer and their equivalent of this amp is right around $600, and that's the low end of their tube amps. If you're on the fence, this is a great amp to start with, tube amps always hold their value well. Solid state amps become obsolete every time technology advances. Tube technology hasn't really changed much from the 1960s.

Is this suitable for an acoustic electric also?

It was nicer when there was a 20% coupon, the normal price was $180, and Monoprice didn't have to charge tax.

But that ship has sailed, and this is a very solid deal. Buy 2 and a stereo chorus pedal. Smilie

It will technically work, but this amp doesn't really have the voicing or the clean headroom most people would desire for an acoustic pickup. You would be better of with an acoustic amp, powered PA speaker, or just going directly into a PA id you're performing.
