This doesn't appear to have a headphone jack. Can the 1/4" "External Speaker" output be used for headphones, or would that result in damage to the amp / headphones ?

Using the external speaker out will destroy your headphones.

No, this is a tube amp - no headphone out. To do that you would need a loadbox.
Sigh, I definitely did not need this as I have a Helix + Fender Fr12...and a Spark 2, but I couldn't help myself and wanted to try it out after all the great reviews.

Don't blame you. I also have a helix and sometimes play through this and use helix as a pedal board. But I've been eyeing the fender fr12! Worth it?

For what it's worth, I love playing this amp. My gretsch hollow bodies (plural--thanks slick deals...) sound great plugged straight into this, no pedals, spring reverb turned up, about half gain. Teles, too. When I have done FX, the FX loop is a nice touch. Just a great little amp that's even loud enough for small gigs.

I am interested in both as well. Been primarily using a MX5 and NDSP plugins, but just picked up a Tonex One and Max software. Been quite impressed with it and then this came up.
I have the 5 watt version and it sounds great, but I really want that spring reverb and fx loop.
I am curious if the FR12 would be that much of a different experience than my Studio Monitors.

Yes!! I have Yamaha HS8's as well, and the FR12 is where it's at for guitar tone (granted the guitar does sound good through my HS8's, but nothing like the FR12).

Yeah, I am torn between picking up this or getting the Fender FR. I am thinking the Fender might work out better as I can also use it for my Korg I3.
Man I miss the days when you could get this for 130-150 on sale. But let me tell you, even at full price (or more) this amp is amazing.
For those who don't know, the Harley Benton TUBE15 is a copy of THIS amp, not the other way around. (and by copy I mean.. they just switched the label.) So you can look up reviews of that amp as well.
In turn, these amps are copies of a previous model Laney Cub 15. And that is a very, very good thing.
In short, this amp sounds stellar. It taught me what true "tube sound" is. I thought my Katana MKII 100 was great, and it still is, but next to this Monoprice amp, not only does the monoprice sound different (better) it just FEELS different (better). It's not something you can describe or even experience in a video - you have to play it.
I do not use the built in speaker. It's good enough (and worth buying to use it), but I use the external speaker output and run it to the stage right 1x12 Vintage 30 cab (which this 15w amp sits on top of). WOW does it sound great in that configuration. The larger cab + that v30 just makes it come alive. It could even be considered 'end game' status for me and my use-case (I don't gig so do not need more than 15w.).
The ONLY downside is that it is a gain-ey amp. By that I mean, you can't push it SUPER loud clean without it starting to break-up. Which is awesome if that's what you want out of an amp!
Also for those new to tube.. do not be put off by 15w. It gets LOUD. It's not the same as 15 watts of solid-state volume. Thankfully it has a "1 watt" mode which is what I use 99% of the time (which still btw is pretty dang loud)
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. I've owned this amp since it released and have quite a few miles on it.
