Don't buy portable AC, unless it's dual hose.

Yep. I got one for my garage gym and it works great. Definitely need to separate intake and exhaust.

How big of a room is it in? Did you get same 12k BTU as this?

Single vent AC units have terrible efficiency and performance. One vent units use the room air that was just conditioned/cooled and pull it through to the compression coil (to remove the heat that was just pulled from the very air that is being used to cool it! 🤔), and that is then vented out through the window. You immediately have a huge efficiency loss by wasting the cooled air, but not only that because of the negative air pressure caused by the AC unit pushing the air out of the vent you are actually drawing in new hot untreated air from all the gaps and cracks throughout the rest of your home, which then in turn will be pulled towards the vacuum created by the one vent air conditioner and we'll just continue the entire cycle of inefficiency. You can actually make the rest of your house hotter by using a single vent AC unit. A 12,000 BTU single vent air conditioner will perform worse than a 4,000 BTU dual vent air conditioner, while still using the full wattage/power to operate.

It baffles me why single vent air conditioners are still allowed to be sold in consumer markets. They are abysmal products that end up costing consumers ridiculous amounts of money long-term while only providing mediocre performance.

Most consumers simply don't know any better and manufacturers are happy to exploit their ignorance by selling a cheaper product for the highest price possible.

The "new user" account LovelyCheetah has been spamming the same 3-4 'deals' for single hose air conditioners for the for the past week. The "deal" thread gets crushed with thumbs down after people realize what is being sold, and then two days later lovelycheetah repost the exact same thing. (And yeah, the repost alert is ignored, lol)

Please find/post some actual GOOD DEALS on two/Dual hose AC units @LovelyCheeta, instead of these garbage single hose units.

Haven't used AC all year... but still nice to have a spare unit in case of sudden heat.

Single hose doesn't heat your home up as claimed. Someone doesn't like LovelyCheeta and is making shit up. I replaced my 8000btu window unit with a 12000btu single hose portable and have had much better results with no noticeable change in my electric bill.
