Costco put their dji mini 2 bundle on sale today which is $40 off the original price and the lowest I can find so far.
The bundle includes a small bag, 32GB memory card, and 1 extra battery.
Costco member only and 3 per membership.

Not sure if this will help, but it helped me. When I first got my mini2, I had a gimbal error saying it was stuck. It was brand new so I thought I received a lemon. Upgraded firmware and didn't help.

What worked was that I noticed that the camera ever so slightly "tucked" in a little bit. I gently pulled it out. Of course you don't want to do it forcefully. It will feel like you are lightly stretching a rubber band. After I did that, everything worked and has been working since. Good luck.

For the return home button, do they ascend to a tall height, fly to the takeoff spot, and descend? Otherwise, there could be trees and buildings etc in the way of its flight path home.

You can set the return to home height though not sure what the max is. The mini 2 doesn't have avoidance so it should be set higher than anything in it's path.

Thanks for reminding me of that feature, I think I'll hold off until that feature is included and higher run time (45 mins?) for around $400-$500.

Maybe another year or two.

Ordered this yesterday, is the DJI insurance (DJI Care) plan recommended? Looks to be $50 for this model, with additional charges depending on nature of issue. Not sure how repairable these things are, but I have some experience flying and repairing a drone I built a few years ago.

Want to check my understanding of RTH. If my drone is currently UNDER a tree branch or something and I press RTH with the default setting, the drone will attempt to fly straight up to the specified footage as the first step and crash into said tree branch. Correct?

Especially that much of an increase in flight time is quite unlikely given that a larger battery would push it over the 249g weight limit. See the minute difference between the 1 and 2.
