Silicone is more environmentally friendly than plastic. It is made from silica, which is derived from sand, and manufacturing silicone does not involve mining for crude oil, which most plastics are made from. It is also more durable than plastic so it lasts longer. Silicone is recyclable but not biodegradable, however it does not break down into micro-plastics either, which makes it ocean-friendly and less harmful than plastic.
The egg bytes is exposed for a shorter time and has a unique function so I grabbed one.
The sling I figured is worth the gamble. Looks like it will not work with 5 lb bird which bare fits as is. Not needed if you have the Duo Evo Plus or Pro which have the inner pot with handles.
Orange Roast Rack looks useful due to the SS trivet that comes with I.P. has wide slots.
edit one year later: Love the red sling, use it every day for everything even for 5 lb chicken and pot-in-in pot. Saves burned hands. The green steamer is ok but not essential. The orange roast rack is used more as a spacer. The red egg bites is awesome, very sturdy compared to alternatives and it is useful for making large frozen domes from Vitamix liquifying. The clear lid gets used to cover pot-in-pot. Odors: Odors are possible even from the seal ring when new possibly due acetic acid or similar being released from a new item. After sufficient use no odors. A few pp reported a soapy taste after running through the diswasher which uses a harsh chemical soap. I always handwash and never once had any soapy taste or "soap odor transfer". Specifications change. People may have received fake products. Handwash and use multiple times within the 30 day return period before deciding if odors persist or transfer to food. I don't see this.
Edit: Hmm, nevermind - looks like the non-Official set is only sold by a 3rd party seller with not-so-great reviews.

Silicone - Wikipedia: "At around 200 °C in oxygen-containing atmosphere, PDMS releases traces of formaldehyde (but less than other common materials such as polyethylene [28][29]). At 200 °C, silicones were found to have lower formaldehyde generation than mineral oil and plastics (less than 3 to 48 µg CH2O/(g·hr) for a high consistency silicone rubber, versus around 400 µg CH2O/(g·hr) for plastics and mineral oil). By 250 °C, copious amounts of formaldehyde have been found to be produced for all silicones (1,200 to 4,600 µg CH2O/(g·hr)).[29]" ...250°C = 482°F
from quora: "Used above 300 degrees (f) there is leeching into food, significantly, into FAT. Since most baking takes place above that temp, some transfer may take place. In tests the food that absorbed at "unacceptable" levels was meatloaf. It is worth mentioning that the extensive testing on food grade silicon DOES support the idea that there IS an acceptable (if tiny) transfer of silicon agents above 300 degrees. Acceptable to the FDA does not mean NONE. If none is your objective, then you need to keep that temperature in mind. Anything above 400 degrees is risky. Silicon baby nipples do not seem a problem in studies, nor do egg poachers, since they are used at 212degrees."

I.P. offers ss mesh steamer baskets but those can be tedious to clean if used with chicken or similar. Bamboo is a healthy choice- line with a large cabbage leaf for easy clean-up.
Pot-in-pot I've used titanium pot from backpacker suppliers. Pyro-ceramic glass such as vintage Corningware French White with the raised letters on the bottom is also an excellent choice.
edit: Two years later the titanium pot with lid has been in use daily with the red sling. Frozen pot stickers and burritos cook without getting mushy. Dry roasting in the covered pot using p.c. conserves the natural juice which is an unexpected bonus. Stainless steel bowls are a less expensive option. The Egg Bites silicone lid may be used. Lids must have at least a tiny gap to relieve pressure. Pot-in-Pot method greatly extends the versatility of I.P. It also prevents scorching and burn error.
Inner pots with handles such as those included with Pro and Duo Evo Plus make removing the inner pot a breeze. As you have removed it from the heat and steam it only takes a minute or two before it is cool enough to reach inside and grab the stock trivet handles. The other major advantage of these models is the flat induction-ready bottom which allows you to start on a portable induction then transfer hot to I.P. The long wait to pressurize is thus eliminated and cooking time markedly shortened. Cooks may enjoy finishing many dishes on a PIC.
" Food-grade silicone is supposed to have no additives which may get leached off when the product comes into contact with the food. This is, however, not always the case. Cheap silicone cookware may not be food-grade at all and may come with non-silicone fillers like other plastics. Moreover, the colorants added to silicone to make more visually appealing products can also be the source of toxic byproducts."
anyway what do you do with those egg bite things, just poached eggs?
They accept Fluorosilicic oxide in water, the promote GMO, the head of FDA was the head attorney for Monsantos...No, the FDA is a very reputable and stand up sector in our 1984 government, so PLEASE do as you please ...rather as you are told, or else!

Pot-in-pot I've used titanium from backpacker suppliers as it has no heavy metals like stainless. Pyro-ceramic such as vintage Corningware is also an excellent choice but cook times will be much longer.
