for the same reason some people will pay more for a 13.3" laptop than they will for a 15.6" one.
So, if you don't know, you don't need it..move along

While this is the newest model (which came out in 2019), there is a new model rumored to drop by the end of the year. That doesn't mean not to buy this, but it is something to consider when evaluating buying it. The new one is likely to have a larger screen in the same/similar footprint.

In for one. Recently sold my iPad Air when I got my new Macbook M1 on a prior Best Buy deal (which I love) but sorta miss having a tablet for some things. This is a nice compromise. Thanks for the find!

I don't think so. Not even the 4th gen worked for me. The mic is places in a different spot, if you're going to use it.

Because "The 8th generation iPad doesn't have a laminated display, which means there's an air gap between the glass and the LCD." It's especially noticeable when using the Apple pencil.

Also, it doesn't have True Tone. iPad mini has both laminated display and true tone.

Because not everyone wants full size. Some people are happy with smaller version for portability etc. I'd argue it's probably more popular with women since they can just put in a purse or small bag. I personally like it because it's smaller in hand to read/view in bed and carry around. But to each their own.
