This is a consistent issue I've experienced with MSI laptops. The 2 I've owned did this within less than two years. Will never give them money again.

This seems like a good laptop for school or travel. The ram is soldered but at least its 16GB. The display is listed as 300 nit anti-glare and according to reviews it's pretty good with color accuracy.

Thought it seemed too good to be true at this price.

Thinking of refurb Dell Latitude 7490 which has similar specs and is currently 45% off at Dell Refurnished website, or $525 + tax. I've seen 50% off deals so would wait for that.

Very solid deal. Apart from the 16:9 aspect ratio which lot of people favor now a days, this is a very solid and premium Ultrabook for its price. The Display quality is good, overall build is also pretty solid. Also, the CPU performance on this one is better than most Ultrabooks at this size and weight, including Dell XPS 13 and it can run the Intel CPU at 28W for longer period of time. Thunderbolt 4 at this price is also a rare thing.

The verge review claims their Evo only got to around 250 nit peak brightness and CPU temp reached in the mid 90s (with the i7).

Even though display has 90+% sRGB color gamut, the brightness is only good for indoor usage at average of 270 nits
