I was just about to post this deal. You rarely see these at this price. I just purchased one to replace one that I've owned for years. The fan in my existing one started making odd noises, probably due to a couple of drops over the years. I tried to disassemble it, to no avail..
Did you put some lubricant on the fan when the dissembled it?

How is putting a fan (i.e. a moving part) in there add any benefit as opposed to putting a speaker? Now it's less reliable and less versatile.
Also, it draws more power at 40 watts, which is converted straight to heat. You can feel how warm it gets after only a few minutes of running. It's like having an incandescent light bulb on.

A phone on a charger only takes like 2w when its fully charged.

WD-40 is a penetrating oil and corrosion preventative. As a lubricant, it is quite short term as it tends to evaporate. Additionally, WD-40 will damage some types of plastics over time.

I would suggest using sewing machine oil or turbine oil instead.
I have sewing machine oil already and I never thought of that. I need to lube up both of mine again in a couple months so I'll try that. Thanks for the tip!

These things are love when it comes to quality sleep in a noisy environment or to a light sleeper. For me, the MSRP price is a deal.

for all the lubricant talk my suggestion would be to try something silicone based or possibly something like treadmill oil.

Aren't there free apps that play white noise?
Does not duplicate the sound of something actually spinning and producing the noise the same way a saxophone will never sound the same through a speaker

In our case, we use a Bluetooth mini speaker with the "White Noise" app, which afaik is still free.. it has several white noise sounds and works well for soothing our second little one.. not saying that this is of no use, but we never really needed this type of white noise maker for over 6 years now.. cheers!

To add to this. Any silicone based lubricant should prevent any build up or rust, and last longer.
Treadmill oil may even do the trick here

This is as cheap as it gets. I own a couple of these, and lectrofan electric ones. Here's what always comes up in these threads:

- The ones with fans, like this, make a more "soothing" noise in many people's opinion, but it's not as loud or customizable as the electric ones. But they're very good and many prefer them.
- The quality has gone downhill in recent years, sometimes the fan bearings make weird sounds or don't last as long.
- The electric ones are also really good, have a larger variety of sounds, and can be made louder or more quiet than the fan units. I prefer electric personally. They're on sale for about $35 sometimes.
- Yeah you can use a free app or Alexa or whatever for "white noise" but they tend to loop a sound, which makes a noticeable blip when it gets to the end and restarts, and can interrupt your sleep. These machines won't do that.

Long story short you'll probably be happy with this or an electric, they're both good. And again, this is as cheap as it gets for this model.

Just commenting another enthusiastic recommendation for this machine. I've been using one every night for four years and it's as good as the day I bought it
