- The ones with fans, like this, make a more "soothing" noise in many people's opinion, but it's not as loud or customizable as the electric ones. But they're very good and many prefer them.
- The quality has gone downhill in recent years, sometimes the fan bearings make weird sounds or don't last as long.
- The electric ones are also really good, have a larger variety of sounds, and can be made louder or more quiet than the fan units. I prefer electric personally. They're on sale for about $35 sometimes.
- Yeah you can use a free app or Alexa or whatever for "white noise" but they tend to loop a sound, which makes a noticeable blip when it gets to the end and restarts, and can interrupt your sleep. These machines won't do that.
Long story short you'll probably be happy with this or an electric, they're both good. And again, this is as cheap as it gets for this model.
I would suggest using sewing machine oil or turbine oil instead.

I own two of them. It seems like every year or so (daily use) they need some WD-40 near the moving parts. Easy disassembly, just Google it.
Can't sleep with one also

I usually agree but I've seen some instances where dust and grime buildup happens with white lithium grease versus WD-40. It depends on the situation and how often you want to disassemble stuff but in this instance, unless your space is unusually dusty, white lithium should last longer.
