Not sure why everyone is so against this. If I had an expensive item being delivered, I would definitely use it. For the normal $10 items? No. Your garage != your house, unless you keep the door from your house to your garage unlocked, which is foolish to begin with. Even if an Amazon driver decided to be malicious, or even worse someone "hacks" it, the most they walk off with is my lawn equipment.

Either my Rottweiler or I will be standing behind the garage door to greet the driver when the opener slides up, LOL
Making their job even more difficult. LOL

reviews for that myQ device say there is a subsription fee for the opener. Can anyone confirm?
I've been using a MyQ garage opener on my primary door for 3 years without paying anything. I recently bought their other device that makes a "dumb" garage door into a smart one, and haven't paid anything additional after purchasing the device itself. I didn't even know there was an option to add a subscription...not sure what it would do/add.

My complaint about this, was for my first key delivery. Driver decided to open/close garage from app, and mark package delivered. Checked my garage, as well as cams, and nothing was delivered. Happened to be on f]porch checking my ring am footage, as he passed by. I flagged him down, and told him what he did. He apologized, and handed me my package directly. I didn't file a complaint, not sure if Amazon would gaf tbh.

The only question here is, is $40 worth the effort of changing your garage code for a day, and then changing it back?

edit: nvm, forgot it uses MyQ

Yes and no. Yes if you want to have it work with IFTTT or Google Home or Samsung Smart Things. No if you want to use it with Amazon stuff.

It adds IFTTT and support to other smart assistants. After I found that out I returned it for another one without any fees.

Cool, next thing ya know they will offer a service were food is delivered and feed you as you sit back on the sofa watching TV. Next after that, bathe me.
It's called assisted living.

So

I have a MyQ garage door opener but my door is broken - waiting on new door install

What happens if they try and the door doesn't open?

I would love to try this feature and use the $40, but every single delivery I've tried so far is not eligible. I set everything up (both myQ and Amazon say Key is enabled), but I get a big yellow banner saying Key is not available every time I check out. I have a garage door opener with myQ built in. Would recommend against buying the garage controller just to make this service work. YMMV

I believe that the subscription cost for the 'works with' integrations was removed a few years ago. I currently have my system working with IFTTT and Google Home and don't pay anything for it. It definitely had a cost associated with it when I first purchased the system, but that's no longer the case.

Did this a few weeks ago and used it probably a dozen times since. Super convenient. I put a camera in the garage to make sure the delivery people don't do anything funny. They honestly seem like they couldn't care less, they just place the package and walk away. I spent about $23 on the myQ hub which was required so I made $17 and gained the ability to open/close my garage from my phone.

Edit: looks like many people don't like the idea of letting Amazon into your home/garage. I can't blame you. But you can use this opportunity as a money maker and you can revoke access immediately after that first delivery and never use it again. Easy $17-40 for a few minutes of work and if you're home you can literally stand there when they deliver the package and watch them.
I can see the value in this. I guess it depends on how you have your garage setup. I keep a lot of pricey equipment out I just would not feel comfortable if someone I've never met came in even with a camera on them.
