Seems like a good deal. I keep telling myself that my i7-4790k is doing just fine, but based on passmark this i3 is faster.

Makes me excited for when I finally build a new PC, when video cards are a little easier to get and a little cheaper.

I picked up two Samsung Chromebook 4+ the other day for $74 each when a store showed 2-3, so I'd say there's a good chance. They had a new one and the demo boxed up... Brickseek went to OOS by the time I was back to the car, so it seems to be close to realtime now.

Luck. I was looking for something for the kid and came across it on the local store inventory on the web site. It has the crappy TN panel and is larger than I wanted, but the price was right.

Follow the thread. It's for a Chromebook listed in my post, off topic.

The Guideline
Very roughly speaking, for a single full-transcode of a video, the following PassMark score requirements are a good guideline for the following average source file:
4K HDR (50Mbps, 10-bit HEVC) file: 17000 PassMark score (being transcoded to 10Mbps 1080p)
4K SDR (40Mbps, 8-bit HEVC) file: 12000 PassMark score (being transcoded to 10Mbps 1080p)
1080p (10Mbps, H.264) file: 2000 PassMark score
720p (4Mbps, H.264) file: 1500 PassMark score

Average CPU Mark
8825
Intel Core i310100 Processor 6M Cache up to 4.30 GHz Product Specifications [intel.com]

This processor supports QuickSync hardware encoding, so given a file it supports (and a PlexPass,) it can do a heck of a lot more than that.

It's seriously ymmv. My local store said 3-4 in stock, so i went. I didn't see any on the floor (only display model) so i asked the guy if they had any, he immediately knew and said no.

How many streams on Plex could this handle?
As long as your clients are set to request a direct stream, and your bandwidth can handle the upstream, it can easily do as many as you need. Now transcoding is a completely different story which appears to have already been addressed.

Proprietary PSU with 12V out only onto a proprietary motherboard. There is no 24 pin motherboard cable. Not good for adding a graphics card that needs extra power connectors or adding more than two more hard drives and a M2 drive. In total, the motherboard will only accept three SATA drives and one M2 drive based on SATA outputs and power out connectors from the motherboard.
