Whirlpool All Stainless Steel and Nickel Self Cleaning Bottom-Load Water Dispenser Water Cooler - on clearance at Walmart.com. It looks like all of the Whirlpool water dispensers (coolers) are on clearance. They have like 5 more that are around the same price that are different designs/styles. I ordered this one, so I will find out if it is worth it, but it has decent reviews.

need to drain and use vinegar solution (quantity depends on how often you do this process) to remove hard water, lime deposits clogging pipes based on maintenance schedule.

schedule and vinegar/water mix ratio are mentioned in the manual.

i have the self cleaning $201 bought from costco. cooling compressor makes noise now and then.
but after 4 years, the cooling is not same. (haven't done any cleaning all these years as I threw away the manual. going to try the suggested maintenance routine and see if it the cooling comes back to ice cold again.)

This one doesn't require you to have a water line, which is ideal if you want water in an area without a line.
Because a water hookup isn't always possible. In my instance: our office in a building my company rents isn't near the bathrooms and getting a plumber to run a line isn't worth the cost and headache of getting permission from the landlord, getting permits, etc.

That is a great idea! I was looking for a cheap water dispenser/cooler for my office, but hadn't looked for one that makes ice…and how amazing it would be if it made ice pellets! Time for me to start looking, ha!

Stupid question:

Why would someone buy this type of water dispenser if a bottle-less one online is just a few bucks more?

With a bottle-less dispenser I don't have to carry a huge water bottle.

I'm asking because I'm considering a bottle-less dispenser.

Oh wow seems to be a great deal. Bought a similar bottom-feeder self cleaning dispenser at Costco for $220+tax and it's all plastic.

I had this for about 4 years and it was awesome. Coldest water dispenser I've ever used and the hot water comes out hot enough for tea. I ended up selling it for $85 after I put in a reverse osmosis system but I miss the cold water since now I have to use ice because the fridge does not dispense the water as cold.
