This one doesn't require you to have a water line, which is ideal if you want water in an area without a line.
Because a water hookup isn't always possible. In my instance: our office in a building my company rents isn't near the bathrooms and getting a plumber to run a line isn't worth the cost and headache of getting permission from the landlord, getting permits, etc.

Just ordered one to replace my Costco unit. Hopefully this one will last. Did the math and I could probably get two of these water dispensers a year at what we are paying Costco/Sparkletts (now Primo).

They charge about $7 for a 5 gallon jug plus an $8 delivery fee which adds up and easily offsets the low "rental" fee for the cooler.

Stupid question:

Why would someone buy this type of water dispenser if a bottle-less one online is just a few bucks more?

With a bottle-less dispenser I don't have to carry a huge water bottle.

I'm asking because I'm considering a bottle-less dispenser.
Lots of reasons.

You want it in a location with no water line.

You don't like the taste of your city water.

City water can 'turn over' every summer and taste horrible.

You have a water softener and don't want the added salt.

You're like me and have a water well and if you lose electricity then you lose water too. Though the dispenser will stop, you can still use the water in the bottles. Or, if you have a gravity fed you'll still get water flow, just no hot or cold.

We have one in our bedroom and we use it with tumblers. Water bottles take up space in the fridge. I have to walk all the way to the fridge to get them. Regardless of how the water is transported, the little plastic bottles are probably not actually recycled (even if you recycle them) where as the 5 gallon jugs are almost always cleaned and reused. Drinking out of the bottles is much less pleasing than a tumbler. I can fill as little or as much as I want without caring about opening a new bottle. The water is extremely cold out of a dispenser, which a fridge will not match unless you like your food occasionally freezing. I'm at Lowe's or the grocery store all the time so it's not like I'm doing any extra driving. They typically last 2 weeks and I have 3 or 4 I keep in my laundry room.

I'm sure there's more reasons, but there is my brain dump of reasons for you to consider.
Agreed. It's nice to have my dispenser in the kitchen. Kids fill up their glasses with cold water to drink and guests help themselves when they come over. Compare it to having a beer tap at home instead of drinking out of cans of beer. Except it's water.

Is the $180 and $200 worth compared to the sub 130 ones?

Our incredibly hard city water through our 70 year old pipes? Yea this is my reason for water. I bought 3 5 gallon jugs and I refill at grocery store, just put them in the cart and wheel them around. 48 cents a gallon. Home delivery for water is outrageous unless you got the money to pay for the convenience!

A cold-water-only water cooler uses 0.3 kWh per day, which equals about $25.00 a year. A hot and cold water cooler uses 2.8 kWh per day, or an estimated $227.00 a year. Adding a timer to these water coolers drops the usage per day and cost per year slightly.

For complete accurate plug in the wattage into a simple Google search energy use caluator like this one, cost is dependent on many things such as location (indoor or out).

I shut off my hot water portion as I rarely need it, and turn off the cold section at night. You could put it on a smart timer.

Money wise, the $201 and the $135 gave most discount rate (50%), the 136 and 123 ones have too many bad reviews. While the 182.23 have commercial in the name but not alot of discount (msrp 250). I still cant find what is different between the 135.28 and 201.60 dispensers (that worth $65 difference), They both hot/cold, self clean. Anyone chip in?

Is that a lossless RO system?
It is not, unfortunately, because its the regular tank system. Iirc the only system that's lossless is the tankless one. The trade off is you need electricity to run the tankless, whereas the tank system doesn't require it. More useful during storms when the power can go out.
