The 10600k is the best bang for the buck if you can find a reasonably priced moto. I bought the KA and 590UD mobo for $280 on new egg a while back.

After building, upgrading almost every year or 2 I just realize that I dont need to spend money to upgrade only to find out I dont even use all the power and features. I still have my Core i3-9400 pair with gtx 1060 and it still runs most game at max settings for me. Saved so much money since then so I advice those in same situation as me to just buy what you need, maybe a few year

They are very good CPUs for the price (except perhaps to Amdie Bros).

The problem with12th Gen is requiring new 600 series motherboards that will make the CPU/MB combination too expensive for a while.

If building a new system, these with the expected steep drop in LGA 1200 MBs soon will be the sweet spot for many years before the next gen CPUs and Motherboards (With DDR5 and PCIe 4) become must haves rather than nice to have at the moment.

For people who are looking for a good value than the latest and greatest.

My strategy has been to buy mid-top end CPU (not the lowest end) when the next gen is on horizon and see how many generations I can wait out before HAVING to upgrade which would be from significant new technologies such as memory and PCIe versions or a significant jump in CPU performance. Not one for latest and greatest or bragging rights specs.

I'm still using my 4970K system and it would do me another decade if it wasn't for the TPM requirement coming down the pipe.

The latest computer news outlets have been reporting that Windows 11 can be installed on PCs not fitting all requirements if you install it the old school way off of an ISO. Apparently, it's if you want it delivered via Windows Update that it'll stop and say your PC doesn't fit the requirements. Suppose we'll know in a couple of months when it's officially released and we're able to try it out for ourselves.

this is still a good deal considering, this proc has a higher base clock at 4.1ghz and can OC up to 4.8/4.9 on turbo single core which is an ideal cpu for games.
