1. This HP has usb-c with DP and PD, meaning you can actually use a dock to both power the laptop as well as having 4K60hz output over the usb-c. The lenovo usb-c has neither DP or PD function
2. This HP has HDMI 2.0. The lenovo only have hdmi 1.4 meaning that lenovo has no way to output 4K60hz at all while with the HP you can actually connect two external 4K screens and run both at 60hz. If you are the type that want a laptop that can run multiple external screen, the HP beats the lenovo by a mile
3. This HP has dual ram slots meaning you will be able to upgrade all the way to 64GB ram and run them in dual channel. The lenovo has a built in 4GB soldered ram with 1 ram slot (hence it has a weird 12GB ram configuration with the costco model because that one ram slot has an 8GB module). So with the lenovo you are limited to 40GB ram and its not dual channel.
advantage of the lenovo:
1. Slightly bigger battery
2. Slightly brighter screen
3. Black color keyboard is better with white backlit and visibility compared to the HP silver keys not as well visible with the backlit.
This Pavilion 15 has two ram slots, supporting 64GB of memory (32GB is the max HP sells this model with, not maximum supported), hdmi 2.0 port and fully featured Type-C port, supporting 10 Gbps data, display port 1.4 (4k at 120 Hz) and power delivery charging which can be used to charge the device with any 45W+ PD charger.
Nice specs but 250nits is a deal breaker for me.

What I believe is happening is that they are clearing out Ryzen 7 5700U stock, thus the good discount. They even had it in the budget to stick 16GB RAM, not 12Gb like a bunch of other Costco deals (LOL).
Next level up are either 2-in-1 flippable semi-business laptops (way cheaper to load up on Fire HD 10 tablets for simple tablet reading). A pricier consumer alternative are gaming laptops, but they are heavy/bulky as hell.
Anyway, unless there is a massive drop in chip prices, this should mostly match the upcoming BF deals, which would have newer but less speedy chips (the 2021 gen).

My primary purpose is to play D2R. I already ordered a 32GB kit for ram upgrade. will sell the OEM dell for about half the cost of the upgrade. I hope.

Edit: For those looking for a teardown, this laptop is it - https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/H...own/126179
Looks like there's a hard drive space. Will require a cable and bracket.

You can easily clone drives if you know you interfaces, and MBR/GPT difference.
It completely crashed on bootup. No trackpad. no wifi card. Would not boot after restart.
Installed Windows LTSC from USB and connected usb-c internet and rebuilt the system.
Thanks HP!
After installing latest AMD video drivers, 50,000 Octane.

I run a multiple VMs for development/testing and prefer to upgrade to 64GB rather than 32GB if it would work. Thanks.

Looks like it will be $699 during the BF. The prior deal could be had for $560 = $610-$50 online coupon. It seems they were clearing Windows 10 stock back then, but no such luck now ...
